BG dropping fast

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to make this quick and I don’t know if this qualifies as a 911 because Pablo is acting okay but his sugar is dropping fast. He had his 2nd day of SRT today and he was 300-500 all day then before his PM shot he was 222. I decided to give him his usual 8 units because he was about to eat a big meal plus tends to be high in the morning and I didn’t want to give him a low dose then wake up to him being 500 before his 3rd day of SRT. He is currently 107 only 3 hours post shot so I gave him a liquid treat. I also have Karo syrup if need be. What should I do/be on the lookout for? He’s acting normal.

update: he is at 83. I gave him another temptations liquid treat and some dry food to get carbs in him. I'm going to check again in about 20-30 mins.

When asking for dosing help, please keep the spreadsheet up to date. I hope Pablo is doing well on his last day of SRT.

Hi everyone, sorry for the lack of activity and communication as this week has been rough but we are almost through it.

I updated his sheet. He is now on the freestyle libre 3 which the vet explained lags and measures around 40 higher than the blood meters. His SRT treatments are done and went well. He is home and acting himself. We did have some diarrhea yesterday and a little today which the vet said is most likely from anesthesia, stress, being off schedule, etc, but he is acting normal. We have already taken him down from 8 to 7 units for the time being since his sugar has been all over the place. Other than that, we now hope for the best and hopefully see improvements and no negative side effects.

Thank you all for the advice and your patience as Pablo and I navigate through this. It's been a very draining process but we both are hanging in there and Pablo would have never gotten to this point without you guys. We still would be on prozinc hoping it would work one day.

Not true in lower numbers. It's typically lower in low numbers, anywhere from a few to 60 points when tested against a BG meter. Keep that Relion around for when he gets below 100 on the Libre.
