I've been off site for a while because my cat went into remission, but last week he tanked. Not sure what happened. His blood glucose was over 500 on Friday and the vet put him back on insulin, but over the weekend his 7 a.m. reading was below 200, so no insulin. Then this morning it's back over 500. The vet and I are at wits end. I know some of you test BG throughout the day. Is a 500 reading that unusual?
Well a reading of 500 is bad, no doubt about it. That is a very unhealthy reading, but it is possible with swings in glucose. What we need to help you is some data. A spreadsheet would help us to help you. Did your vet do a Fructosamine test? So your cat is on ProZinc. And how many units? You should test blood glucose before every insulin shot and during the middle of the cycle. Tell me more.
