  3. Lisa,
Can you handle another half an hour? If higher, I'd say he's good for the night and you can take a cat nap.

Without getting out of bed to look at the chart, I think we were 160 shooting a half hour late b/c he was lower at +12.
We shot 2.4 thinking that would be safe and we could sleep tonight. I think the anesthesia is still having an effect on us here. This might be a whole new ball game.

  22. Lisa,
Are you sure you aren't checking Bennie? What is up with that boy tonight? His pancreas must be working "normally" for the first time in a long time. This is actually great, but it would be greater if it was 2 PM, wouldn't it?

53 and 55 the same. How long does food take to hit the bloodstream? Do you know Carl?
You could try a little more honey if you have to get some sleep I guess...

  24. Donna,
Looks like anesthesia works better than insulin on the diabetes thing! Did he have bupe today, or was that just to get him past the post dental pain?

He got the 72 hour bupe injectable at the vet. Less dopey today but still not back to normal.

  26. What I have read on the food hitting the bloodstream is 1.5 to 2 hours for low carb canned. Gravy and honey, just a few minutes. But Cass seems to have had little boost from all the soupy stuff tonight. Dry food hits around 2 hours but it sticks around a lot longer, from what I've read.

I'm thinking the insulin is pretty much worn off by +11, wouldn't you think? That's why I'm thinking it's the pancreas fighting the high carb liquids. If that is what is going on, it's a great sign, I think.

One would think PZI would wear down by +11 but some days we have cruised past that.

I apologize but I'm gonna have to check out. I need to get a couple hours tonight. My last advice would be if Cass persists with the low numbers and it seems scary, I'd go with honey on the gums. That way you might get a couple hours.
    Good vibes comin your way....

At this point I'm setting the alarm and trying to nap between pokes. Tomorrow's gonna.be long.

  32. Lisa,
I'd just leave out some food in case he feels like eating (might not be hungry), and get a little sleep. You've done a great job dealing with this tonight!

I'm thinking Cass is going to stay in the greens till AMPS for sure, so of course you'll be skipping the shot. I don't think he's going lower tonight. The insulin's got to be worn off by now.

Its is past the +12 so I am assuming everyone is asleep here!
Sorry I missed it all, but I go to bed pretty early!
I will be checking on Cassie later...
I know you are probably not thinking this,
but this could be a good thing
usually they hypo, we give higher carb food and the numebrs rise and keep rising,
but that did not happen with Cassie....she is riding the greens which could be really good
havent there been quite a few that have gone into remission after a hypo?
dont want to get your hopes up but this could be good
I would skip the dose today and see what happnes
I hope you all got some sleep!

Was checking in to see if we have an update on Cassie. What a long night for LIsa and him. Hope she was able to get some sleep in intervals. Glad everyone was able to stay on as late as they did.
