Checking in with some new friends

Alicia & Kit cat (GA)

Hi all - I've been meaning to check in on folks more. Partly I was grieving, but then work started back up and has been pretty busy.

But! I wanted to show you the new babies Eric and I got. OK, they're not actually babies, but they feel so young compared to Kit's old lady self.

We have Petunia, who is 4. She loves to snuggle and be where the humans are, but is also definitely a fan of zooming.

This is her being very cute and trying to convince Eric to share his food (he did not - we told her it was too spicy and has onions lol)

Vegas is 2, and she was my first choice. Which means of course she prefers snuggling with Eric at night. She's a wild and crazy tortie who wants to be in EVERYTHING.

They aren't a bonded pair, but because we brought them home at the same time, they've settled in pretty well. They like to chase each other, and sometimes do little swats - no hissing or angry noises, and it never stops them from continuing some chases. I'm hoping we see some cuddles in the future.

We forgot how exuberant kittens can be, and I'm having to retrain my brain on normal pee amounts, and boy is weird to have kitties that LOVE to eat. They're such a chaotic delight, and it's been great to figure out their personalities.

I have intentions of being better at checking on folks, but the semester has started off with us being behind from the get go because of construction/renovation delays, so most of the time by the time I get home and just feel like hiding in a good book. But I hope folks are doing well, and please know I'm thinking of y'all and sending good vibes. ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Aww, congrats on the newbies. I too love it when people adopt adult cats. It *does* change the rhythm of life to have younger furries scampering around though. Enjoy the youthful exuberance and prepare to search for and pick up a lot of items that they’ve chosen to steal/rearrange. :cat:

I love it when people rescue older cats. Rescue is my favourite breed. They are gorgeous girls. Looks like the two have them have settled in very nicely. Have fun. :)
I was going to go older, I didn't necessarily want the crazy kitten stage after so long with a much more sedate cat. But Vegas just stole my heart, and Petunia is such a sweetheart. And it's a decent mix of calmness and wild crazy antics. ❤️

I had thought about going a bit older, this is how it ended up shaking out - we also were in the right place at the right time. We got them from a petco that hosts cats from our local humane society, and a woman had paid the adoption fees for all 7 cats currently there in honor of her daughter who had passed. Such an amazing kindness, and I'm sure it's what helped all of them be adopted by the end of the week (I kept checking because there were some amazing cats there).
I forgot how much stuff cats can get into - so many new explorations have to happen! We've figured out most of the hiding spots, and they're pretty good about coming at the sound of a treat bag. But hoo boy. :joyful::joyful:

Oh Alicia they are soooooo cute :kiss::kiss::kiss: !!!!!
Congrats on the additions to your family ❤️.
Thanks - we love them so much already. And I really wanted to make sure Eric felt involved in the process. I'd already had Kit for years when we got together. And while I'm *slightly* jealous that Vegas cuddles with Eric at night, I know he really loves it. And Petunia is my little shadow, and has to be where I am (although the one rib she manages to put all her weight on when she wants morning snuggles could do with less jumping on :joyful:). Such good babies. ❤️

Hi Alicia!!! It’s so lovely to see you and these beautiful new to you kitties. They are absolutely adorable! ❤️
Ivy and I hope you and Eric enjoy all of their fun and zaniness. And, have many, many years of good health and happiness together. :cat:

They look like they are very sweet and inching their way closer and closer to cuddles with each other. Enjoy having a lap cat. I don’t know what that’s like either anymore? Ivy is definitely not one of those but gives me cuddles when she wants and they’re pretty brief but that’s Ivy, everything on her terms.

Would love to see pictures when you get the time to share. Hope all is well at work and you and Eric are getting to enjoy some quiet time with Petunia and Vegas.

Kit cat will always be in our hearts. ❤️
Thanks so much for sharing and stopping by. It’s great to see you as always❤️❤️

Thanks, Staci. Kit will also be my first baby, but these two are definitely helping ease the sadness. I'll for sure make it a point to stop in and check on folks. I wouldn't have been able to keep Kit around an extra almost 5 years without this place. (I just had to pause for a few minutes to find out who was getting into what in another room :joyful:). Scritches to Ivy! ❤️:bighug:

Oh, that is so wonderful, thank you for sharing!
Vegas looks exactly like my Morphine, the cat I adoped in medical school, she was crazy ;) in agood way, though.
Petunia looks like she knows things, I love her eyes.
I am sure they are keeping you busy.
I hope your schedule will calm down a bit! It is nice to see you here again :bighug:

Thanks! We lost our sugar cat in December, so I've not been as present. It's so weird to have cats I'm not constantly testing and analyzing (okay, I'm still constantly analyzing lol). Scritches to Pasha!
Hello Alicia,
Nice to meet you.
I'm very sorry about your fur baby Kit. He lived a very long and happy life thanks to you and now he's in kitty heaven. You'll meet again some day....
Best wishes,
Ayda.

Thanks, Cecile.
Those torties with their tortitude. They're my favorite.
Petunia does a lot of slow blinks, and loving gazes, and it's only sometimes that she's doing it to try to convince you that she's never been fed and maybe you should share your food with her.:joyful:
Much love and hugs to you. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Hi Alicia!
I absolutely love, love, love, ❤️ this update.
I'm so happy for you and Eric and for Petunia and Vegas.I'm sure they will bring you lots of love, happiness and laughter.
So jealous of your lap cat, as I've never had that. Both Nestle and Peanut are not lap cats.
Looking forward to seeing more photos of these two cuties a reading about their adventures :cat::cat:
Welcome home Petunia and Vegas :bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss:

Welcome home Petunia and Vegas :bighug::kiss::bighug::kiss:
Thanks, Karolina - they definitely bring some fun. Petunia was just walking all over Eric, and it's very amusing to hear "ooh, right on the knee cap!" and "oo, maybe don't step there with all your weight on one paw". Very. Very. Entertaining! :joyful::joyful:
This is my first lap cat as well, so I get it. I'll send "sit on Karolina's lap" vibes to the boys.

Hi Alicia! I'm VERY late to this party, but @Mikanmama (Mikan GA) gave me a heads up that you had new babies, so I had to come and see for myself. They are adorable!!!:kiss: I'm so happy for you and Eric, and for these two cuties who were so lucky to go home with you. The photo of Vegas chasing the dot on the screensaver is too funny!
Hugs and scritches to all of you :bighug::bighug::cat::bighug::bighug:

p.s. How lovely that someone chose to memorialize their daughter by helping seven cats find homes. Thank you for sharing a tale of kindness -- we can all use more of that.
