Previous thread about kidneys

Hi, everyone,

Thought I would stop by to update on Baby G. Well, tomorrow is our appointment to re-check everything (bloodwork, urinalysis, and blood pressure). I feel like these tests should be more of the true values reflecting how she really is because the last couple times she was checked, she had health issues going on (anal gland rupture, for instance). I wonder how much those issues could have affected her kidney values then. So now that she is completely healed, is eating good (and eating more wet food again), has energy, is acting well, and her glucose numbers are improving, I'm curious to see what her values will look like this time around.

I'll update what we find out!

We are now back home. Should have results Monday. The only thing concerning is the blood pressure readings. Firstly, the vet uses extremely old equipment.
Her first reading was normal at 100. Then they took another reading and it was 180, and then the next one was 200, so it seemed that the longer she was there and being handled, the higher it got. I'm hoping it's just stress. They said they want to wait until the blood tests are back before considering placing her on blood pressure meds. I'm going to research and look into purchasing my own blood pressure machine for her so I can check her at home when she's relaxed and comfortable.

Lab results are in. Only thing missing is for the thyroid. Something happened where the lab either broke or lost a tube so they couldn't run it, but they said I could come back at no charge to get it re-done (not sure if worth it?). Vet told me good news, that her kidney values, while not normal, were better.

Can someone experienced in reading labs please provide any input? Looks like creatine and phosphorous are better but I see protein in urine.
Link to the labwork is here.

I will try to get a hold of her internal medicine vet to get his opinion on what, if anything, we should do next. I ordered her a blood pressure machine yesterday and it should arrive some time this week.

@Suzanne & Darcy ?

My vets rule of thumb is to not worry about one value out on a labs, but to wait to see if it's a trend. The August labs urine protein was fine, just this one so far in September is positive.

My Neko's blood pressure skyrocketed due to stress. When she was going to get it done I tried to relax her by spraying her carrier with Feliway and giving her Rescue Remedy before we left. And it helped if we were alone together in a exam room for 15 minutes or so, so she could calm down, before they did the BP test.

Thanks. I finally received her blood pressure machine today and attempted a few tests. First tail reading was 159/99; left arm reading was 121/88; right arm reading 142/97; tail reading again at 140/88. Even though she is a bigger cat I wonder if she could benefit from a neonate cuff. I'll check her again tomorrow night and see what happens.
