I was informed today that Toby (about 10 years old) might have kidney problems as well. My Vet thought that maybe I should start him on a kidney friendly diet (he just had some other health issues and needed antibiotics). Vet will retest kidneys in about Feb/March. Any thoughts on the matter as he already is a Diabetic and a very fussy eater.

@Helgaursula
I don't know if Weruva is available in Australia , if it is
low carb/ low phosphorus
if you tap on this link and look at post #32 I listed some Weruva pates for another member that's low carb/ low phosphorus with kitties with CKD

You want the metabolizable energy profile percentage of carbs to be less than 10%, and the phosphorus which Weruva lists in Minerals to be less than 250 mg per 100 cals. So you have to look at two different places in the Weruva charts. This is where I was told where to look by a member

You can even check out the soulistic pates
https://www.soulisticpet.com/pate
When you click in one of the flavors then click on
COMPLETE NUTRITIONAL INFORMATION (link to page)
and look at the same two places like on the weruva

Thanks for all the answers. Toby's problem apparently is not yet severe. He will be tested again in the New Year. However, the Vet thought that it might be best to adjust his diet and she recommended Royal Canin and Hills. He also has some dry food at the moment (Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Diabetes), but he rarely eats any of it. I have tried him on lots of food and in the past he has rejected the Hills one and most others. He eats a bit of Royal Canin Easy Weight, but he does not really like it. In the mornings he starts with Dine Pure Tuna Whitemeat. Fussy Cat have a can with Salmon, which he also eats. He seems to like fish better and he likes Applawse, the loins. Today he had roast chicken and he loved it. He will also eat some mince (best quality only). So far he prefers junks to Pate. I bought most recommended varieties in the past and he did not touch them. It is quite difficult and I am looking forward to all suggestions.
