Hello, Neo has arthritis and lately it has become worse, you can't tpuch his back legs without him hissing and biting. It has progressed quickly in these last few months, before it didn't bother him that much. His vet recommended solensia when he was diagnosed, I started to read experiences and most were good, but there were aome people saying that it killed their cat and tbh, that made me doubt a little and decided to wait. But his pain has become worse and I hate to see him like this.

So, what are your experiences? Does it have some side effect on BG? Did your cat had some side effect in general?

Jasper is 16 and has been diabetic for a year now, and on solensia for about 6 months. His quality of life is dramatically better now that he is on it. He had significant curling of his front paws, to the point he could not walk. He has neuropathy in his back legs so we don’t see a tremendous difference in the back. But honestly it’s been a life saver for his front legs.

I don’t like to say much about it but I had a less than stellar experience with Solensia — I question whether it’s the “miracle” the marketing materials (and echo chamber of the Internet) make it out to be. But every cat is different, and every experience can be different. I encourage you to do some additional reading beyond the standard google search results and try to evaluate what risks/rewards are right for you and your cat.

I'm really glad that it was such a life changer for your kitty!!

Could you be more specific please? What happened?

Howie has been on Solensia for almost years and I've never noticed any negative side effects. I believe it is giving him a quality life that he wouldn't have if he wasn't on it. His hind end is still sensitive but he can still jump on the counter and come upstairs.

Didn’t work for my elderly cat, but the vet thinks she’s got something neurological going on in her hind legs rather than arthritis. We saw orthopedic specialist and that was the conclusion. No side effects other than stress of monthly vet visit.

Worked sensationally well for our old Lamborghini, who is now 18. It was clearly visible how less stiff and painful his movements were--his back was no longer so arched, his legs had better posture, he did more than just sleep on the windowsill and couch, every now and then he even gets feisty and chases the annoying younger cats away. He showed improvement the first month, I do know it often takes 2-3 months to show noticeable improvement. I say give it a try for a few months. I know it's not cheap, but it made such a difference for our old boy!

My kitty Ginger has been on it since January. I was worried at first that she would start jumping all over the place, especially jumping down off the cat tree with her old bones. But, she just jumps a little better on and off the couch and she walks a little faster and is grooming more. She is 20 (so like a 100 year old person), and she is doing good.
