WalMart ReliOn meters are good- either the Prime or Premier. Not expensive. No coding necessary and 100 strips for $17.88 and they can be purchased in a pinch when you need them. Loads pf people on this Board use them.
 
I use Diathrive. You can order online I believe the meter is free with a auto ship sign up And the strips are like $11 for 100. They’ve been reliable and I’ve never had an availability issue.
