Okay I finally figured out how to fill this out. This is very handy thank you. We have been working up to two units starting from 0.5 mg but I was writing it all in my notebook that I lost when I moved so I don't have that information on me anymore I'm sorry. To recap Hobbes is eating fancy feast classic pate and has prozinc. I'm going to the vet first thing tomorrow to discuss options. I learned about how if the body is given too much insulin too fast it can spike the glucose levelsI did not know that) so now I don't know if he should be staying at two units even though he's been at two units morning and night for a few months now. I took him to the emergency room a couple of days ago because his levels sky rocketed over 700 and they checked his vitals and said everything was fine so they released him the next day. I noticed he has been grazing his food yesterday and today and hasn't been drinking nearly as much water (he was constantly thirsty before the visit) but other than that he seems to be acting fine but I also know cats are known to mask their illness. I would love any input, thank you. Oh and I checked if he has ketones in his urine with a human urine test strip and he does have ketones which I read is expected if glucose levels are above 300. I also know blood is a better option to check ketones levels. I asked the ER why they didn't check for his ketones levels when he was there and they said they didn't feel the need to do so because he wac bright and alert. @Mhorb I have to tell you Hobbes is such a gorgeous kitty ! He's beautiful Here is your introduction post ,I can't put the link only because you had posted it in another members post I'm your title I would put New Member Hobbes To change it look to the right then tap on Thread Tools then tap on Edit Title and put what I said to do Hi everyone, I have a cat named Hobbes (8.5 years old) and he has been diagnosed with diabetes. We are in the process of increasing dosage to level out his sugar levels. Last night, I checked his levels and it was in the 400's. He eats fancy feast classic pate and he is prescribed 2 units of prozinc in the morning and evening. I checked his levels 2 hours after he ate, and his levels were in the 700s even after I gave him insulin. Because my vet was closing in an hour, they recommended I go to an emergency vet. They did bloodwork and everything came back normal and they did a glucose curve. He has been discharged as of this morning and I am staying home with him as I know the trip was very stressful for him. His levels are in the 200s now and I am going to my regular vet next week so we can figure out a game plan to get his levels between 80-120. I paid $900 for this vet trip, and I am reaching out to seek some input and/or validation I did the right thing. Did I do the right thing of taking him to the emergency vet? I see @Suzanne & Darcy Said I would like to help. If you can start your own thread that would help (because this post is on someone else’s thread. ). Also, yes, I need to see spreadsheet data @Suzanne & Darcy I tagged Suzanne for you , she's a Prozinc user

@Suzanne & Darcy Does Melody's SS look like ours? I don't know where she can put the dosing method she chooses to follow because I don't see any room where she can put it
No. It looks like the spreadsheet from one of the Facebook groups (not the one affiliated with this Board.). We can fix it. Marje can. Bhooma can too, I believe.
@Mhorb Melody the spreadsheet you have is not the one we use , it's probably from one of the Facebook groups. If you would like us to fix it I can ask one of our members to fix it for you. Just let me know
This is holding the dose way too long. We would adjust the dose, if not getting desired nadirs, every 7 days if following SLGS and every 3 days if following MPM. We can talk more about it tomorrow.
What level of ketones have you been seeing? You must make sure he is eating and drinking adequate amounts and that he shows no signs of lethargy or vomiting, lack of appetite. How is he doing in general?
Hi Melody. I just wanted to check back with you and see if everything is okay and to make sure you have everything you need to help Hobbes.
