Good Day,
I'm here for my lovely Sgt. Pepper 11. 5 years old was diagnosed with diabetes as of 12/09 from his senior blood workup that was taken this past Saturday 12/07. We have a follow-up appointment scheduled this Friday to review the medicine he will be on, they believe it's type 2 diabetes based on his age along with the signs.
He lost about 5-6 pounds from earlier this year, when he weighed 15-16 pounds, and now weighs 11.6 pounds. He does have a very healthy appetite, drinks lots of water, and uses his litter box a lot. Earlier this year Sgt. Pepper was mostly a dry food eater only which was Tiki Cat High Protein Dry food & then one day he started eating wet food. Currently, he eats Friskies Shreds in Gravy which he loves, he also will tolerate pates like Ziwi & Tiki Cat.
Our vet wants to give him medicine in a liquid form that can be added to his food which will help with his diabetes (I don't remember the name of the medicine, but I do remember that it's a newer medicine); his vet feels this medicine will help control his diabetes without having to go on insulin (hopefully).
I am here to learn how to make my soul cat Sgt Pepper have a comfortable life after being diagnosed with diabetes.
