Mr. Darcy (formerly Frisky), who Jennifer (Tucker's Mom) adopted through FDMB Cats in Need, has a heart arrrhythmia and needs to see a cardiologist. Here is the post from the old Board.

Mr. Darcy will be seeing Dr. Fenollosa January 13th at VCA Shoreline. He will be getting a consult and, if needed, an echocardiogram. It is highly likely an ECG will be done. Jennifer is fearful about Mr. Darcy's possible heart condition, because she and her DH have fallen madly in love with this sweetie, who is OTJ by the way.

The FDMB Cats in Need Fund has a commitment to Mr. Darcy. Jennifer is at the end of her rope with vet bills right now and will accept our help, although that was a tough choice for her. I am looking to raise $800 for Mr. Darcy. That is the top end of the estimate Jennifer got, and the fund is still $350 in the hole from Mr. Darcy's pre-adoption vetting in Virginia.

Every little bit helps. And now you can donate knowing that your donation to Cats in Need can be claimed as an itemized deduction on US federal and state tax returns, thanks to Maureen's adopting Cats in Need as an affiliate of the OLM Catnip Cottage Not-for-profit.

I accept donations through PayPal. Credit cards, use vmaewood AT att DOT net. Instant transfers, use ennis93 AT att DOT net, and mark them as a gift so that there are no fees.

We have a little over two weeks to get this fundraising done, and I know we can do it. If you can't support Jennifer and Mr. Darcy financially, prayers and well wishes also are important currency.

Thank you Venita. I feel terrible for having to do this but I was not expecting so many cats to get so ill and run up the high vet bills in December. Starting with Angel and Gett who both stopped eating and both spent the day at the clinic.

Gett's HyperT is now at a level where he needs I-131 and I have to save up for that, the costs for all the tests in preparation rivals that of RadioCat. Thankfully Radiocat remembered me from April, Joan, my contact there is a wonderful lady, and she is giving me a senior citizen discount so we'll save about $115. Gett needs the I131, if his kidneys are good, I've lost too many to complications from hypert. His urine test is tonight, that's the last test, if he passes he gets treatment in January.

Then as you all know Spunky and Keesha, we tried vet care before we had to make the final decisions, Spunky was Gett's mom and Keesha his littermate. Spunky left us on December 1.

And dear sweet wonderful Mr. Darcy. He sleeps under the covers and snuggles between Ron and I, he loves people so much, he's not really into the cats, but hopefully that will change. The mass on his neck was a blood pocket or something, my vet drained that, I had to do a bartonella test because his lymph nodes are all enlarged and he had fleas, which also meant getting Frontline for all my cats. Then when my vet discovered the heart arrythmia and his super fast heart beat, my own heart sank. Mr. Darcy is just too sweet to have something like this happen. I can't say that I've ever met a cat as nice as he is.

Sorry for rambling on, this has been a very difficult year and an even tougher holiday season.

ETA: Mr. Darcy tested positive for Bartonella, results came in this evening.
