126 is still a good number, a little steep but the number is ok. You've fed so the drop should slow. Have you tested her again?

At what point in the cycle did you feed the two cans?

It is good that she ate that will help bring her up

Looks like that first can slowed the drop there. Test again at +5 to see how much the second can slowed down things. Yay for blues!

How carb sensitive is Kitty? You can try feeding a small teaspoon amount of medium carb wet food in with some low carb food to try to slow down things further. Looks like the new vial has more kick!

Wow, Kim....when was the last time Kitty saw low 100's? So, I guess this means the old vial was the problem?

I agree, you could go to a medium carb food, but only feed a small amount at a time. You don't want her to get full and not eat for you when you need her to.

Ok I see, 106 at +4.5. Sounds perfect to me! If she wants 2 or 3 bites of medium carb I think that is fine, but I wouldn't give her a lot. The insulin is probably close to peak by now, so her drop is likely slowed already.

She's ok though, don't feel like you need to give her any. You don't need to bring out the food really unless they drop under 50, and she's still got lots of room to drop, and is probably far enough in the cycle that the speediest part of the drop is over anyway. She's had early drops before that then turn into flattish.

I'd stay on top of it, she used to like to nadir between +6 & +8.

I'd give her a small tsp of the 8% carb food. Yes 8% is considered med carb.

I'd test when you feel like you need to. No need more often than every 1/2 hour unless she is closer to 50 than she is. I'd say maybe every 45 minutes, or 1/2 hour if you are going to freak out more from not knowing than from having the test.

Kim, from her SS she doesn't really drop too much more after this time, at least not enough to hypo. How much food has she had? you don't want to make her sick, just in case.

How much fluid? 100 ml? you have given fluids before and it hasn't done much, so it doesn't always make her go down. She is OKAY! you are not near a hypo # ..... BREATHE ......

That's not a lot, really. Are you okay? Remember you need to take care of yourself first and if you need to test her every 15 minutes until you calm down, then do it! Pretend you are running a curve on steroids. Not a bad # at all +5 103 .... even if she fell to a low low # you can handle it, you know that, right?

Yah, it looks like her drop has slowed.

I don't have any solid understanding of the fluid factor, but I would think that they simply help her feel better and therefore don't drive her numbers up as high. So I wouldn't think it's going to have her hypo or anything like that, it may just let her have a nice surf in good numbers, and then not rise so much at the end of the cycle. I mean, she still normally is getting a yellow or pink PS after fluids, right? So it's not like they are going to put her at risk unless I am missing something? You may just get a blue PS in the morning, which would be supercool!!!!!

Go over your SS, she doesn't always drop, and in some places she doesn't drop that much. Only a couple of times do you see a steep drop and there may have been other factors .... and yes, you seem as if this has thrown you.

Then they will bounce off each other, the insulin will be losing steam, then and if the fluids kick in she should be starting to go up. You have more to worry about with the insulin and it seems to be already slowing down.

You like %'s .... What I see on your SS is an average of a 30-40% drop and 2 times her #'s went up .... so #'s person you may only be seeing that 100 point drop but you need to look at her averages. and yes, 50 or under a teaspoon at a time.

No don't freak out!!!! This is a NORMAL number, and the insulin is at peak. This is what you want. A remember too, it's not like if she touches 50 she is going to hypo, that's just the lower end of what is still a safe number.

How is she acting? Is she acting hungry? I would certainly let her eat LC or MC if she wants to eat. If she isn't acting hungry, then she is fine. If YOU are freaked out, you could give her 2-3 bites of HC. I don't think a small quantity will send her high. There's no need to based on the numbers and timing in the cycle. But do what you need to to stay sane!!!

Let me just add you should do what you think is right, even if it is not what I say! I once let Bix eat as much HC as he wanted when I thought he was dropping too fast, and I got YELLED at, LOL! But you know what, it was what I had to do to keep myself from complete panic, and based on the data I got from that, I learned that he didn't need to eat a lot of HC to bring his numbers up. So it was a learning experience.

If you think she is unsafe and needs HC then by all means give her some! Just get the data so you know how she reacts, so you will continue to learn what works & what doesn't, and that helps each time you need to make new decisions.

After tonight she may be more sensitive to the insulin. So yes, I would lower your AMPS.

Especially if she is eating a little more now, she should be good! Maybe a nice surf! Don't be surprised if you see a red number in a few hours, that's typically how it goes.
