(LC) Freeze-dried poultry vs. Avian Flu

Hi. Has anyone stopped feeding their FD kitty the freeze-dried treats, toppers, or food due to the new Avian Flu warning regarding it? Just wanted to know what you all are advising or doing bc this is a last resort for me (although I will definitely do it if I have to) since my FD cat has basically no other choice for treats/toppers than this, as far as I've known. Thanks!

I think some members have been avoiding freeze dried chicken treats and raw food. Canned food is cooked so not a problem.

Will your cat eat a non-+chicken freeze dried treat? Beef, rabbit, fish, etc?

Ty for posting this, I had just picked up some instinct toppers trying to think of any ways to get mochi to eat her wet food more. I'm nervous I've used it a few times but will definitely stop. Bone broth has seemed like a good option to entice them and freeze dried salmon seems to be well received.

I was feeding her the Stella & Chewy's Dinner Dust and their Dinner Morsels. The former only comes in Chicken and Salmon/Chicken as far as I've ever found, but the Morsels come in other flavors besides poultry, so I'll be using that now instead. A shame though bc the Dinner Dust was often the only thing that would entice my cats to eat, besides Hartz Delectable broths.

Yeah, the turkey stella and chewy’s was one of my go-tos that I’ve cut out which is a pain since Sammich has allergies and there are so few things he can have that he will eat when feeling off.

Nutritional yeast is another thing you could try as an enticer. Both my cats (and the dog!) go bonkers for it. Sometimes it’s been the only thing Sammich is willing to try.

Honest kitchen also makes some powdered goat’s milk, which can be rehydrated or sprinkled on top of food. Not on the same tier as the nutritional yeast apparently, but still good. You can find single packets at the pet store to try out rather than being forced to buy a giant can they may not like

A lot of brands just take their freeze dried raw food, crush it up as powder, and sell it as a "topper"
