Out of subject. I brought home a new cat

She's back :-D She was exploring the basement, she came back very dusty from the unfinished room down there, purring and looking happy. I gave her a treat and she loved it: wet food. They sent her home with dry food but she does not look too excited about it. She was nursing until 2 days ago.
She is a tiny little mama, she had babies 8 weeks ago, was found with them as a stray. She is very friendly and affectionate. She needed time on her own, her kittens have been adopted or they are in a foster home, I am not sure, but she needs some calm.
She can be adopted as of Tuesday, we'll see what we decide.

Cecile!!!!! I have been wondering but didn't want to ask! She looks like such a sweetie! She's got a little gray notch on her hind paw there 🥰. Please keep the pictures coming as she gets more comfortable.

My son thinks her name should be Clara Schumann. I like Clara :). She is getting used to us already, she stayed with us the whole time, including trying to jump on the table and play with spaghetti as we were eating
It's weird to have a cat who does not react to butter or milk, though. She was playing and running like a mad cat earlier, that's fun. And then she was drinking in the toilet bowl.
She has beautiful eyes, gray-blue. They think she might be Siamese. She looks gray on the pictures, but it's more a beige, light brown-gray color.
I agree, she looks like Bandit!

I think someone is at home…🩷🩷🩷

Does she have a knot or kink on the end of her tail?

It looks like she settled in quickly and approves of your home and family. Poor girl to have been found as a stray — if only they could tell us their story.

She’s beautiful, btw.

Yes, it looks like a "?". she moves it a lot, so I am not 100% sure but I think it's always bent at the tip. It's cute.

Thank you, Seth! It's a bald patch, they said one of her kittens might have ringworm, but the vet prescribed antibiotics so I guess they diagnosed something else. she does not look bothered by it.
She talks a little, it's funny, she has a very quiet voice. For now at least :-) She might talk a lot, I am not sure, Bella was so vocal that I find it completely normal to have a discussion with a cat :p
Maybe a snowshoe mix??
I never heard of it until you asked, but she does look exactly like this, actually. Darker face and tail, white paws, blue eyes. That's interesting!
Smiling so big reading this thread. I think we’ve all been waiting for this post. Hope it all works out for you and the family, she is beautiful!
Thank you, Tim! I am not sure we will be able to let her go :D
If you are thinking of names, I think the decision has been made! ;)

How does it feel to have a cat in the house again? I still haven't summoned the courage to adopt another. My Insta feed is full of cat and dog reels and but I'm still resisting it!
Hello Bhooma! So nice to talk with you again. The name Lilac sounds weird to us, we speak French and it is not easy to pronounce. My son said Clara at first, he is reading Brahms' biography and she is in there a lot, but it does not really fit. He suggested Idril, an elf from Lord of the Rings (probably the Silmarilion), her full name means "silver footed maiden". I like it. For now she is not responding to any name, but I guess she needs time: stray, then foster in a house with her babies and with several cats and dogs, then 2 days in a cage in a shelter, all that did not give her much time to bond and learn a name, I am sure!
She is very cute, she follows me everywhere. She acts like she owns the house already. She started the night on my bed and was very relaxed, on her back, belly exposed. I take this as a good sign.
It feels very natural to have a cat in the house. I am actually surprised by how normal it feels. My Instagram feed is all cat videos as well. I almost said yes to a dog last week, a golden retriever / Pyrenees mix who was left alone for several days after his owner had a stroke, he is in an induced coma and it took the neighbors 3 days to realize he was there by himself, poor boy. Someone was faster than me. And then when they ask for Lilac, I said yes. Something in her story made me want to help her!
She acts like a kitten, she looks so tiny, she feels way too yound and small to have been a mama already. She will have to be spayed very soon.

Look what I missed yesterday! Congrats on the "foster" Cecile. I was thinking snowshoe too. But it doesn't really matter, she does look cute.

Any age estimate on her? Climbing curtains does sound somewhat young.

They told us 2 years, but I thought like you, she looks younger. She acts like a 10-12 month old kitten, I think. And she is very petite, but her paws look too big for her. I am not sure how they estimate age. She is also scared of lots of things, but that might be because she was a stray until a month ago.
This morning she ate a centipede. It felt like a test from Bella :cat:

That's her on my bed yesterday evening (before waking up at 1 am and climbing the curtains):

I love her smile.
OMG ... This picture ... I can't even ... 😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻😻 :kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss::kiss: ... she's so precious!

My John Lewis has a kink in the end of his tail; I kind of thought of it as a defect until I took him to the vets for a regular check up and the vet tech announced, "he has a lightning bolt in the end of his tail," and that was it ... and a perfect lightning bolt it is.

Or butter?
Bella is sending vibes ❤️‍🩹
She had a lick of my butter knife this morning :-) No pizza yet, but she looks at us when we eat and looks like she is ready to jump on the table, so I bet she will love pizza.
OK, tonight I was petting her, she is so loving, she purrs really loudly and puts her head in my hand. and then she turned and licked my hand.
@Mary & Jude That's a great way to describe it. Hers looks like a question mark. She walks with her legs wide apart and kind of stiff, I guess because she still has a pregnancy belly. But she can be very fast and supple too.
I had a message from her previous foster, that made me laugh. She said her cat and dog thank me for taking her because she was terrorizing them. Hard to imagine with such a tiny size :woot: but she is very spunky, she growls when there is a noise outside, I am sure she can fight.
I am glad I said yes!
I need to figure out what and how much to feed her, they gave me kibble and some cans of pate, but the kibble makes me nervous. I don't want to do raw again, I read articles about the dangers of bird flu for cats fed raw food and I think I will not take the risk. Kibble is convenient but scares me, so many ingredients! I remember reading about a nutrition page somewhere, I will look, but if one of you has recommendations, I would love it. They told me to feed her as much as she wants for now and I know Bella was the odd one and usually cats will stop when they had enough to eat, but it feels so weird to just feed her and not watch anything.

Oooooo she’s got some spiciness in her!

From what I’ve read about food, wet food is better than dry just because of the water content in it. Blair still does kibble and she for sure can overeat. I ask e my vet to help with a feeding plan for her to get her to her desired weight, and then I used an automatic feeder to spread those meals out during the day/night. She’s lost 2-2.5 pounds in the last few years and looks much healthier now.

Ooooo, I am just catching up on the news here … congratulations, Cecile!!! She is such a pretty girl, and that SMILE! Oh my heart …

I know you said she’s a foster, but it looks to me like maybe, just maybe, she’s chosen her forever home. Hugs to you and cuddles to Clara-Lilac! 🤗🤗🤗❤️❤️❤️

Congratulations. I’m now afraid of raw too. I started making my own food. I am cooking it with and adding a mix. I’m still trying to figure out how much to feed and which proteins Chai will eat. She loves chicken but ground pork she ain’t touch. Mocha with allergies gets ground bison. Right now I am cooking every couple of weeks. You will figure it out.

It's so great to read all of you again, @Karen and Chispa (GA) , Elise @tiffmaxee, and everybody else ❤️ I miss this.
She was almost completely silent the first day, just a tiny meow. Now it's been 3 days and she is a lot more vocal, she has a small voice but she talks. And growls, and hisses (at the vacuum cleaner, she told it who was the boss).
@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) she does not mind music, at least! She came to the piano a few times, while my son was playing. She was scared at first but then came closer when he was playing with his friends on Friday (trumpet, French horn and trombone. Lots of noise.) There is music constantly and she stays, she does not look scared. She is very jumpy for outside noises, though, I think it will take time for her to feel safe and calm.
She has diarrhea because of the antibiotics, I guess. I gave her S. Boulardii and a 1/4 tsp of kefir. We'll see. I have pumpkin too, I'll add some tonight.
Clara will not be her name, it is way too close to my daughter's name, Chiara. I like Eponine. We're thinking. I will write to the agency tomorrow to ask for a few more days, but I am almost sure we will keep her. I am not completely sure but more and more. She is a very easy going and low management cat, and we still feel surprised to see her. It's weird. In a good way, but weird, still!
I don't want to take too much space here, I'll come back to tell you one way or another. And if she stays, I might come back and ask about cooking, Elise and Staci :-)

Interesting that your daughter's name is Chiara. "Chiara" was Robert Schumann's nickname for Clara Wieck (Clara Schumann's maiden name) in his Band of David (Davidsbund) of musical friends.
Whatever you name your kitty, she is beautiful!
