Okay so my first nigh off sensor!! He might just be the one night off sensor depending on how it goes. This first test he let me poke but not collect blood…. I did get the blood eventually.. and he was at 152. And his shot is due now.. I haven’t gave his shot yet due to 152. I’m waiting and will retest at 930 to see if he is rising. But. I have to keep consistent with the 2.75U Last night and today have been beautiful with his numbers staying 100-200.. this morning I did give his shot 1 hour early (9am, shot last night was at 10pm delayed 2 hours due to lower numbers and my fear, and my issue of inconsistency usually 8am/8pm) I did it early to get ahead of the shooting up he was doing. But he has stayed in range all day.

so should I be safe to shoot his 2.75? I’m getting ready to take another BG to see if he is rising or not.

and if I do shoot now will I have to worry about a huge drop? He didn’t last night he just stayed where he was.. and I know every cycle is different. Like this morning he took a big dive from 290 to 140 quick… so that is why I get so nervous! Also I’m off the sensor it died at 4:45pm today.

I retested and he was up to 198 and so I gave him his full 2.75 and. I guess I’ll test in 2 hours and see where he is at!! I’m being consistent!! Seeing his sugars for the two cycles and he never went below 100 I feel pretty good that he will be fine.

But I now have questions about how glargine works. I get that it does normalize your sugars and is that why I see big drops because if the insulin doing it’s job at trying to normalize his sugars? And if so do I not see big drops when he is in range or lower numbers because the insulin just has to hold him vs correct him and that is why we get more of the flat cycles?
