Hello- When someone has a minute can you please review chance's flowsheet again? We've stayed at 5 units when above 200. We've had a couple drops in the 50s and he has been asymptomatic and went up after eating. My daughter gets nervous when he's in the 50s. I guess as a nurse, I don't get as nervous especially if he's eating. Should we do a reduction to 4.5 units or continue as earlier? I get nervous reducing too quick as he seems to bounce back up with sugars. I want his body to get used to experiencing lower, more normal blood sugars if that makes sense. @Suzanne & Darcy @FrostD
I do think the 5U is too high, I suspect he's lower before those +7s you're able to get, and I suspect he went fairly low last night to end up at the 148 this morning. The 4.5U is probably good, though you might want to lower that slightly if he's below 200 - will take some experimenting to figure out what works. Again, just because I suspect he was under 50 before the midcycle test today.
