Senvelgo update

Good morning,
I'm here to update you about our journey with Senvelgo (hope this is the right place to post it).

To put you in context: my cat was diagnosed with diabetes in December 2023, he was on insulin until February 2024, the veterinarians thought he was in remission but after removing the insulin we saw that the diabetes had not disappeared.

The vet told us thay my baby was a good candidate to start with senvelgo (we have a lot of doubts regardind this, because of having read in the forum that it was not recommended for cats that had already been treated with insulin, but our veterinarian is an expert in diabetes here in Spain so we decided to give it a try).

It was the best desission that i could made. He has been with senvelgo since 20/03/2024 and my cat is better than ever (even with better mood and more playful).
Its values are very good (it is always in range), fructosamine is perfect and the ketones have not appeared (But I also have to say that another cat that started at the same time as ours was not so lucky and after about two months his ketones were positive).
It is going so well that the veterinarians want to try to remove the Senvelgo to see if his diabetes has gone, but we see him so well that for now we do not dare to remove it.

The only thing we have to watch for more are the urinary tract infections (for now, he has only had an infection once about 6 months ago) because he also have chronic kidney disease before having diabetes.

I hope my experience is helpful, and any questions you have (if I am able to answer them) I will be happy to answer them.

Wow -- it's been almost a year since you last visited! I was hoping to be able to take a look at your spreadsheet but it looks like it's been deleted.

I'm glad to hear that your cat has been doing so well. I suspect there are some differences in how Senvelgo is used in the US versus in Europe. One of our member in the UK has mentioned some of the differences in prescribing.

Like you, I would be cautious about remission. There's very little information about remission and what happens if you stop giving your cat Senvelgo.
