I got some Smalls samples - www.smalls.com (not Small batch), and Coco seems to really like the smooth recipe for bird. It shows a carb percentage of 4.7%. However, there are green beans, peas & kale which equal 8.48% of total ingredients.

I like that it's human-grade food, and I like their transparency, but because of the vegetables, is this a food that should be avoided?

If you read through the test on Dr. Lisa's site, she does mention that there are very good canned foods that contain vegetable or fruit matter and are still low in carbs. The percentage of the non-protein components is small. As long as the food is low in carbs, it's fine.

I would offer one thought. The information that Smalls is providing is the guaranteed analysis. It's great that they provide the ME values. If you want to be obsessively thorough, you need the "as fed" values to truly know the carb amounts. There are a variety of different methods used to calculate carbs. The listings on Dr. Lisa's site uses the "as fed" values so it will be helpful to have those if you want to compare. You would need to contact the manufacturer to get those numbers.
