Stoney’s #’s have been relatively good lately. But, I am out of town in Disney! And my husband cannot monitor him tomorrow. He is at 119 +12. Husband already fed. I’m nervous he will go into hypo and no one is there to assist. What token dose should we give? He’s at 12.5. I don’t feel comfortable skipping!!

Sorry. This was an hour ago. Did you decide what to do?
Hey Suzanne. We decided to give 6.5u. I figured it won’t take him too low but I will not skip a dose! We do have an automatic feeder, but it’s been a pain to get him to use it. I hate that I won’t be there to test and feed during the day. I am helping my MIL chaperone our high school choir group at Disney and crazy has been an understatement. We come home Tuesday evening. Husband is giving him a snack right now and will stay up until at least +4.

Good. It probably wasn’t enough insulin, but some is better than none. I would have probably said to do something similar given the testing constraints.

I see you gave high carb food when he was at 70 at +8. That’s not a number that warrants HC food to be given. With your ReliOn meter, you should save HC for when he drops below 50. A small snack of his regular LC food would have been appropriate if you were concerned, then get another test in 30 minutes. A 70 at +8 is absolutely fantastic and means he was getting great duration of his ProZinc. We don’t want to hijack a nice cycle like that.

What happened with the visit to the vet for straining to urinate? Is he back to normal now? Poor boy!

I think my husband was having a little panic attack with me not there. I know, it was a mistake. But I do agree that 70 @ +8 is great. He had blood tests done, no infection of any kind. No blockage. No obstruction of colon. They did sub q fluids and he has been urinating normally ever since. Just your typical run of the mill $500 vet visit. Lol
