Hello!
Our cat got his teeth extracted a bit more than 1 week ago and when we checked his gums we noticed some stuff that doesn't seem right.

On the left side, there seems to be some blue bumpy stuff. I can't find anything on Google about it. On the right side, it looks very inflamed and there seems to be pus.
We cannot reach our vet today.

Should we be worried? What can it be?

Hi Bron and Sheba
We have a diabetic cat, but it's not this one. He's eating fine but his mouth is still smacking a lot and he seems to be hurting.

Poor baby. I’m sure it’s unpleasant for him. It sounds as if he might be nauseated with that smacking. The people I tagged won’t be around for several hours yet. I am glad he is eating

Did the vet do any post-dental x-rays? I suspect there's a good chance there's a root from one of the extracted teeth still in your cat's gum. Post-procedure x-rays should be done after extractions for this reason. If there's an infection, your cat needs to see the vet asap.

I don't think she has the device to do that. Just got a reply from her and she said to observe over the weekend. If there's no improvement she wants to start up antibiotics.

I'd be very surprised if your vet can't perform x-rays. How else would a vet know if your cat had a broken bone? Not to be snarky, but if your vet's office doesn't have the capability to do something as basic as an x-ray, please find a new vet.

Oh, you are right. I didn't know it was the same device for teeth and bones. She probably has it then. She didn't perform a post-op x-ray afaik.
