Hi Everyone,

Rusty had a good night, watching over his mamabean. Today he is spending a lot of time sleeping. Yesterday must have been rough on him: 2 long car trips with the vet visit inbetween! The IM vet sent us a very detailed examination summary (the results of the blood tests will follow next week). The radiographs showed diffuse moderate thickening of the small airways of the chest and two nodular areas, which are most likely mucus plugs in the airways. Rusty should have another radiograph in 3 months to begin to track future changes. Rusty's liver is mildly enlarged (most likely from diabetes). He has suspected chronic pancreatitis (she refers to his two previous positive spec fPL tests, in 2012 and 2013) and since the bile ducts are in close proximity to the pancreas, the mild elevation of GGT is likely a result of pancreatitis. Pancreatitis may also be a cause of Rusty's weight loss, since he isn't eating as much and this causes him to metabolize his lean muscle mass for energy. (She said that he has plenty of fat (bordering on obese!), that the weight he has lost is muscle.) (I wonder why he doesn't metabolize the fat? I will ask.)
Those are the main points. His sneezing yellow discharge (chronic) could be owing to many things and we can try various meds if we want to, but since he has done this ever since we adopted him, it is not a life-threatening condition.

I'm feeling much better today. The bumps on my head are getting smaller (but I wrenched neck muscles, too, and the Arnica gel is helping. My leg feels almost normal.

Wishing you all a great weekend. Thanks again for all the visits yesterday.

Nice recovery from the travel/vet visit numbers. Sounds like nothing unexpected in the vetty report, though interesting on the losing muscle vs. fat.

Sending more vines your way to finish off the recovery. I hope it doesn't impact your exercise routines.

Ah, I was lurking for a Rusty post, mostly to see how his beloved bean with the bumpy noggin was doing today! Glad you are on the upswing. Poor Rusty, I am sure the travels and vetty exam was hard to a mature fellow. The report was without drama, woo hoo!!! Keeping our paws crossed for the rest of the story when the tests get in.:bighug:

I am so relieved to see your post Ella- I was worried about that fall you took! Vines being sent! :bighug::bighug: I had no idea Rusty had pancreatitis, it is way more common than I ever knew according to literature from IDEXX! And it can be hard to detect, cats are so tricky! :nailbiting: Paws crossed for the rest of the results- Hope Sir Rusty feels better-so he can take his rightful place as the Lagoon Meister!

It sounds like a good report overall. I'm glad Rusty is recovering from his trip and you're feeling better Ella.

The LagoonMeister checked into the lagoon briefly this afternoon and then headed back up on the beach. It was a pretty good day. Wet snow all day, so I stayed in. I'm tired from yesterday! But I've felt better and better as the day wore on. I even practiced some Tai Chi (which I find very difficult!).

Off to visit some condos and then to sit with Rusty while he eats his dinner and we watch TV.

Does Rusty like to watch you do tai chi? It creates good energy for those around you, even if they are not practicing. When my tai chi teacher's dog was recovering from ACL surgery, he would sit in the middle of our class circle and soak up all the chi.:joyful:

Hi again, We got Rusty's blood test results and I will post them tomorrow. He definitely has pancreatitis.
Sorry I didn't get to many condos. I faded fast tonight and just sat with Rusty while he finished his dinner and we watched TV.

So far he has been sleeping when I am learning the first steps of Tai Chi. Maybe he'll soak up the energy when I am able to generate some!

Don't you just love vets that give you a detailed, written report? My regular vet doesn't, but both Cinco's OV and everyone at UCD do it. It's especially nice for those of us with lousy memories!

Sorry to hear about the pancreatitis, but it's good to know what's going on, so you can deal with it. Sending healing vines for our beloved LagoonMeister.

I, too, was watching for your condo (I just didn't have a chance to comment till now). I'm so glad you are feeling better today. Head injuries are so unpredictable. Healing vines for you, too, Ella!
