Yesterday

Hi Everyone,

Rusty bounced this morning, but I think he'll come down later. He had a good night, ate all of his nighttime food, and just finished most of his breakfast (an hour before "lunch"). He spent some time outdoors with us after I finished raking the thatch out of our Northern "lawn". The blackflies and the mosquitoes are here!!
My sister is not here. She decided, wisely, I think, to stay home this weekend. She feels all better, but doesn't want to push it. We'll see her the week of the 4th of July in any event.
So Edward and I are celebrating our 46th wedding anniversary by ourselves, today--with Rusty, of course. We'll go for a walk and get ready for the paddle tomorrow. Rain is predicted for tomorrow, but maybe it will hold off. In any event, unless it is an electrical storm we will paddle and then gather for a pot-luck picnic at the home of the leaders'.

Bummer on your sisters flu, but best be safe. Ugh on the blackflies and mosquitoes. We've had mosquitoes for about a month.

Rusty's mid-afternoon (+9) test was a failure: I tried 3 times to get blood, and then the meter showed "error". So he got a snack and a treat instead, and went back to sleep.

Beans went for a walk (very warm and dry on the road), got the boats on the car for tomorrow, and are about to drink a beer. In 1969 we bought beer for $.69 cents a sixpack (Grand Union Beer). Now we pay considerably more. Our tastes have become more sophisticated, I guess. And the Grand Union supermarket chain has gone out of business. Today Edward will drink Lake Placid Brewing Co. Ubu Ale ("Ubu" was the name of the brewmaster's dog), and I will drink a Smuttynose (New Hampshire) Finest Kind IPA. It's my favorite IPA and the picture on the label is great: 2 old geezers sitting around in their overalls drinking beer. Thanks for the Anniversary wishes, guys!

Sounds like a lovely way to spend your Anniversary. Congratulations to you and Edward on 46 years! We will hit 30 in December. Nothing like being married to your best friend, is there?

LagoonMeister Rusty, I is reporting in after my shift. I checked the lagoon and found that all was in order. I'm currently sitting on the shore, keeping my ears peeled for any issues. A day late and more than a dollar short, I fear. But congratulations on your anniversary!

And thanks for the nostalgic remembrance of mid to late 60's beer tastes...ah yes, ten cent tappers. Dollar pitchers. Paid for with change scrounged from jacket and pants pockets.
