Happy appy, snuggly, spunky, feisty, and anti-jinxes. And no further gelcap fiascos - and more anti-jinxes to that!

I think my Dad is about the same...swallowing a bit better, but weak. We had a family dinner last night and it was pretty chaotic. I was spending most of my time trying to keep my Mom's tizzy somewhat under control...she always panics with family gatherings even under the best of circumstances. Unfortunately that makes these things more stressful than enjoyable...

It's back to work today, though....tomorrow is my Dad's swallow evaluation so I need to get as much done today as I can. Prayers for everyone here!

    Amy

Glad Trixie is her usual good self. Good luck with your dad's swallowing evaluation. Sorry family dinner wasn't enjoyable. Maybe it's getting too much for your mom if she is the cook. Have a great day Amy!

Unfortunately it's just always too much for my Mom...always has been. It is a bit more chaotic than it used to be, but honestly I don't think gatherings at my parents' house have ever been relaxing and enjoyable - even whey they were younger and my Dad was healthy. But we're also stuck...half my family is allergic to cats so I can't host these events at my house, and my brother lives too far away to make it be the typical gathering location.

Some people are just wired to be a bit more high strung. Slip her a chill pill. ;)

"High strung" is the understatement of the century when referring to both my parents!

Ugh on the gelcap fiasco this weekend. Be a good girl Trixie.

Healing vines for your dad. I hope they figure something out with the swallowing study. You have all been through so much.

    Have a great day Amy!

    Good work today, Trixie!
Sorry about the stressful family dinner, Amy, but at least it wasn't a surprise. I hope your dad's swallowing appointment will yield some results and a possible cure. My sister has had a similar affliction for years and the doctors have never yet figured it out (but then she isn't in any hurry to go through scads of tests; she just eats more slowly and enjoys ice cream the best).

    Hugs and scritches,

    Ella & Rusty

Yes, we are Italian! My Dad is 100%; my Mom is half Italian, one quarter Irish, one quarter German. Some people can roll with the chaos, and I could actually deal with it if my parents had a sense of humor about it...but they don't. It's a constant battle of wills...among many other issues.

@Ella & Rusty & Stu(GA) - Yup, the stressful dinners are never a surprise. I guess some of us foolishly keep hoping it'll change, though...ever the optimist!!

Go to a restaurant and have dessert at your parent's house? Paws crossed for the swallowing eval. Looking good, Trix!

Since the swallowing is getting better I expect that to resolved and is likely from the test and nothing more than that. Good luck with it though and prayers as always.

I know it sounds easy...but even that gets massively complicated with my parents. My Dad likes to micromanage everything to death and is a serious control-freak, and it just gets unpleasant - probably worse than being in their house. I could write volumes....but it's just how my family always has been and always will be. As Ella said, at least it's never a surprise, and we do keep the wine flowing.....

I hope you're right, Elise...I think he suffered some sort of "trauma" from the endoscopy, two anesthesias a week apart, pain meds, too high dose of anti-depressants, etc. There was SO much going on at once and it just all caught up with him. I'll get a better feel tonight when I talk to them in a less-chaotic environment.

Sending vines for good results for your father. Italian here, too. And man, there is nothing like an OCD Italian father. I KNOW! Lately, though, miracle of miracles, he has mellowed. My suster called me up after we had all visited there one day--a couple of years ago--and said "I almost could;t sto[ myself from walking up to him and saying 'Who are you and what did you do with our father?' " LOL! And anti-jinx but Trixie looks great!

    Morning Amy :coffee::coffee::coffee:

A wonderful start for Trixie today. AWESOME, keep those BG's coming little one :cat:

God luck to your dad on the swallow eval tomorrow. DH here has been through a couple of those. He was having issues too, due the weakness caused by chemo, and then all that time on the ventilator. I hope it goes well fore your dad. Paws crossed!

oh yes on those family dinners! We used to have them like that too, and thankfully over the years things have mellowed. Now we just have a good time, and we all try to go with the flow. ;)

Enjoy your day today. I hope all goes well.

It's hard when people like it chaotic, rather than trying to make it calmer. Good thing there's lots of wine and you are close. ;)

Ahh, wine fixes a lot of issues. Or at least, makes them easier to deal with! ;)

Trixie looks awesome, and such a good girl (anti-jinx).

I hope all goes well at the swallow eval tomorrow.

We had the same problem with family gatherings at my parents, my mum was usually pretty chilled out, thought my dad drove her to distracion, but dad.......suffice to say the Mediterranean temperament was a bit of a handful!!!

I find that wine is a great social lubricant [IMG]

Best of Luck and vines for his checkup tomorrow.

Tixie is just being a Darling:bighug::bighug::bighug:
