    Good Morning L&LL,

Another chilly one: -11F here early this morning, but already the temperature has climbed to -4F. Rusty is enjoying his radiator (see pic, below). He had a good night, ate all of his nighttime fuds, and has already eaten all of his breakfast. He also drank from the Xmas tree water and the water pots we put on top of the radiator. Can't keep him away from the Xmas tree water. It must taste really good. This morning I took his dose up a notch to what I will call 0.10+ Unit (0.16mm on the digital calipers, Monoject syringe: up from 0.14mm). We'll see if it drops him too much in mid cycle and go from there.

We are preparing for our annual New Year's Eve party. At the moment Edward is getting ready to bake his huge loaf of Hungarian potato bread. We will be having 12 people for late-afternoon snacks and drinks and, later on, a sit-down 11 p.m. dinner featuring lentil soup, smoked turkey, smoked salmon, and Champagne. In between the guests can go to our village's "First Night" (many venues around town with music, story-telling, dancing, etc.) or stay in the house with us and watch one of our 3 DVDs of Johann Strauss' "Die Fledermaus". Temperatures are supposed to be in the 'teens below zero, so I wonder how many of our friends will want to be out wandering around town. Rusty will be a purrfect host, but in the past he has gotten antsy at 11 p.m. (his usual bedtime) and gone upstairs. (@Linda and Bear Man : we miss you already!)

Wishing everyone a great holiday weekend and a healthy new year for kitties and beans.

Yo Kitties, You need to get warm? Come spend the day on my radiators. We can plan for the first full-moon party of 2018. It will be on New Year's Day night. The Full Wolf Moon! Let's get ready to howl!

Rusty knows the proper way to enjoy this kind of weather... from inside! Maggie used to love tree water too. Maybe we should try it! ;)

He looks so content, I think whomever invented radiators must have had cats! ;)

Your NYE party sounds like a lot of fun, I hope a little chilly weather doesn’t keep people away.

That sounds like a great party--well, two great parties, Ella & Edward's and Rusty's.

I've always heard that Christmas tree water is toxic to cats. Please stick to the radiator water, Rusty. Good kitty.

I miss all of you, too, especially my handsome Rusty!!

A lot of cities in Ontario have radically curtailed their New Year’s celebrations due to the bitter cold and wind chill. Many that planned to have festivities all evening are now just holding a quick fireworks and calling it a night. Even Ottawa!

Lucy, James, and I will be having a quiet night here but my thoughts will be with all of you and the fabulous dinner(s) you will be serving. At least you will be able to make your lentil soup without me underfoot!

Happy New Year’s to all of you, and all the best in 2018!

You have yourself a comfy day Rusty & stake out your gone 11pm sanctuary.

Rusty makes such a handsome winter postcard. Maybe he is watching for the deer family. Or the chipmunks.

The party sounds delish. Is that an Instant Pot lentil soup? I'm always on the hunt for a good recipe. We are doing low key New Years here, DH has a cold. At least it's sunny and above freezing.

Well, it looks like AM shot was a fur shot. More money in the basket! And during the course of the day Rusty's sinuses got bad again. He spent some time in the bathroom, breathing steam, and that helped a bit. Hopefully he'll be good tomorrow.

No, it's my Cousin Walter's recipe, from years ago. But I did make the red lentil soup recipe in the "Essential Instant Pot" cookbook several days ago and it was really good. 12 people are too many for my Instant Pot! Hope your DH shakes his cold.
Linda, you were never underfoot. We wish you were here!

'night, all. Thanks for visiting. Rusty came down from that pink in dramatic fashion (as usual).

I wish we were there. It all sounds lovely.
We shall be by ourselves - again - looking at each other and then fall asleep before midnight. We're migrants to NZ and although we do have pals ( no family here) most leave for their annual camping hols on Boxing Day. Still. It is what it is and we shall maybe try and mark the new day rather than the last night.

I really feel that photo is so ace it should be a December shot on a calendar. It's class & so are you guys.
