Good Morning, L&LL,

Rusty lives to fight another day! When we came downstairs this morning he was meowing and walking so much better than yesterday. He had eaten all of his nighttime fuds and ate a good breakfast. Then we went to the vet. Rusty was active in the car and had no trouble hopping from the backseat area to the front armrest. Vet thinks that he has rallied, and that it was probably the pred that caused his weakness and unsteadiness (but she also thought that his breathing is somewhat better and that this is probably because of the pred). Anyway, she thinks that he is certainly viable and that we can get on with life. He got his nails clipped (they were catching on everything and causing him to trip yesterday; Edward thought he was having trouble retracting them). So that's where we are. Rusty is exhausted from his vetty ordeal and is sleeping in his little bed by the radiator.

I know that all the vines and prayers for our boy helped to work this miraculous recovery. Thank you all from the bottom of our hearts! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm so glad for this update. I wish there were a better solution for Rusty's breathing without all the terrible side effects. Do you think the steroid shot had the same issues or did he tolerate that better? Can he get another one of those after a time if that worked better?

More good appy and good breathing vines for Rusty. :bighug: :bighug::bighug:

So, so very happy for this report.

Yo, Rusty!!!

Rusty was exhausted from his vetty visit, so he slept most of the day (enjoying a vetty bounce?). But he did walk around a bit, and this evening he hopped up onto the couch for his PMPS, and the last time I checked on him, thinking he would be in his bed, he was on top of the radiator! That means that he hopped up to his perch above the radiator first, and then down onto the radiator! I can't tell you how happy I am to see this. His appetite continues to be good.

To answer the questions about what the vet thinks could be given for the congestion: she only said that she wouldn't give Convenia again now, since he doesn't have an infection. I don't know about the other steroid shot that he got. I think she is just watching, as are we. I also think she doesn't want to put too much medicine into him, since she knows that he is very sensitive to such things.

I spent the afternoon assembling my new bicycle: a Bike Friday Pack-it (ordered in October; just arrived because a major part couldn't be obtained until recently). Can't wait to try it out, but that won't be possible here for a few months. I may take it to NYC next month.

Going downstairs now to sit with my kitty. bbl

Rusty sat with us all evening on the couch and watched the Olympics. He finished his dinner. We are about to turn in and Rusty has started on his nighttime foods. He wasn't certain he wanted to come upstairs, so Edward carried him up. Now he is back in his routine.
Thanks for all the visits. We are so thankful that our Rusty is here!

Yo, I'm up on shore tonight, manning the lifeguard stand and keeping an eye on the surfing kitties. LagoonMeisterin China is in the surf. The deputies are on duty, too.
