Back to not eating. :banghead: At least he eats his PS meals so I can shoot but last night it was a battle the entire night with him eating a nibble (at best). I finally gave up at +5.5 (I had to get to bed). I even gave him a shave off a Mirtz tablet and a 1/2 Ondansteron (+3.5).

He has made three significant LB deposit (poo) last night before bed and overnight/early this morning.

He did eat his PS meal this morning. I did put MMR in the PS meal and will give him 1/4 Cerenia and 1/2 Ondansteron at +2 right before I leave for work.

Oh Lizzie, poor Gimzo. Maybe he was just full of poop and he'll feel better now. Are you giving SEB daily?

I just saw on the news where Texas is having drainage issues from Harvey and more flooding. How is your area?

I give marshmallow root (vs. SEB) at AM/PM PS meals. I did not once so I could give meds (Saturday night? - I don't remember the days are running together).

No issues on flooding that I am aware of. Harvey changed a lot of landscape including river and creek paths. There is one area that we drove past that we hadn't been by since Harvey that was absolutely shocking. It was covered in 8-10" of sand. This is a large area around the San Jacinto river and at least 2 miles from the river. The creeks by our house are at least twice as wide as they were pre-Harvey and now have very large trees (and everything else that ended up in the creeks and rivers) deposited in the middle of them.

From what you are describing with all the deposits in the middle, is describing what the news said caused all the flooding now. Hope y'all don't have any issue.

I am sorry, I forgot that you switched to MMR. Not too long ago, I forgot one of Bubba's 2 doses a day and thought afterwards "shouldn't be a problem" and then he didn't poop for 2 days........his normal is every other day.

It is hard to give meds (2 hour wait after SEB/MMR) if I give it to him with the PS meal but I try and do it and just wait to give the meds at +2 (or later). He had been having small(er) deposits and these were significantly larger in length and diameter. I am hoping that was the issue. He has been getting Ondansteron too which can cause constipation. I have been adding a little Miralax (and a bit of extra water) to his food the past three days so I think that may have helped also.

Along with the nausea meds I gave him a dose of pain meds just for good measure. I am never sure on that - though I really like the Bupe - it seems to do a much better job than the Torbogisic and doesn't space him out at all - but wow - the cost of it!! I think it was ~$100 for 15 pre-filled syringes (I had a few left over from the emergency visit also) but I don't give it to him regularly because I don't have an unlimited supply. I have given him 3 doses over the past 5 days or so.

I have to do something soon on the vet situation because I will need more Cerenia soon and would like to get more Bupe (preferably a bottle vs. pre-filled syringes).

Yep, went to bed in tears last night.

Oh Lizzie - so sorry the appy is a problem and worrying you. Once suggestion I have if you haven't thought of it yet... You mentioned he likes the freeze dried chicken hearts very much. Have you considered fresh? I give these to Rosie as a treat and she loves them! It is kind of gross to prepare and serve (raw), but she likes them and it gave me some confidence to move forward with more raw food (which she also loves). There are ways to par cook the hearts if you are afraid of totally raw. Just a thought for something he might find yummy that would tempt him.

I turned him off of the FD chicken hearts by trying to add the Omega-3 oil to them. :banghead: I can't seem to get him to take it - in any way. So now he can either take or leave the FD chicken hearts. I am so mad at myself for even trying that and never thought it would completely turn him off to them. I also have to be careful with the phosphorus (with the organs), hearts have less than liver but still is higher than I would like - that is why FD was a good option because I could just give him 1/2 or so. Raw doesn't bother me at all so that isn't an issue.

My primary concern with him not eating is his BG levels going too low if he doesn't eat. He is maintaining (even gaining a bit) his weight so it isn't the lack of eating - just keeping him safe and me being able to get enough sleep.

Thanks for the suggestions :bighug:

Get a script for a compounding pharmacy. Then you can get a vial of the stuff. I used to pay $100 for a 3 month supply for Neko (BID every day). Mind you, that's in Canada, but the prefilled syringes are outrageous prices here too. Of course, you need a vet first. :bighug:

Sending appy vines.

Does it have to be a compounding pharmacy?

The last pre-filled I was just trying to get some extras going into the holidays so if I needed it I would have it or I would have pushed for a script.

Oh poop.! Really Gizmo?? when the +2 is lower?? Okay, Lizzie, just pretend you don't care if he eats or not and the little stinker will try to eat the sofa. ( I hope) Come on Gizmo, don't play hard ball.
+3.5=93

I am going to bed and daddy gets to deal with it. My nerves are fried and my patience is gone. I truly think it is a battle of the wills - and I need to be removed from the mix. I can't seem to make DH understand that though.

Bless your heart, Lizzie . Many hugs and prayers headed your way . Hope you are having sweet restful sleep right now and that tomorrow brings an improved Mr Gizmo :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug: These fur babies can make a bean crazy :woot:
