Hi everyone, gave Willow a dose increase this am. I did see an overall downward trend in nadirs since we did the trial without gabapentin and I don't think I'm being impatient, I think it's a failed reduction as well. Oh well. Increased by 0.25U to 1.0 U Lantus.

On other notes, she's been hiding a bit more (briefly, but still going under the bed) and lay down in her litter a second this morning; I stopped the bupe two days ago, but she's been doing this I *think* since I stopped the gaba. Her appetite and attitude still are great. When she hides, it's usually after a visit to the LB for either a pee or poop, or after eating. I don't know what's up with that?? I may put her back on the gaba in a few days if the hiding etc continues and just increase insulin as needed.

Hope you all had a great night and wishing you and your kitties a day of safe surfing! :) With love, Nikki

Maybe the pee and poop are uncomfortable for her when she goes and If like Ollie it takes her a few minutes of standing waiting for it to come out. So legs get weak. Ollie doesn't hide but when she gets out of box, She lays down to rest for awhile.

Just something to think about And maybe observe more.

I hope you can figure out what is going on with Willow in the LB and find the right balance of things to help her. Good luck with the new dose. Sending prayers.

Yes, sometimes she gets tired and lies down a moment in there as well; I think it's a mix of her neuropathy and just weakness. It's when she hides, I just wish I knew the cause so I could help her. I hate just throwing meds at her trying to find a combination that might work, when I don't know what I'm trying to help with. Thanks for replying :) Is the cisipride helping Olive?

Hard to know. I what would I see. She gets lactulose also. She's goes every other day now sometimes every day. She stands higher in the box instead of sitting when she goes. It isn't taking as long to get it out. Overall it must feel good to just get it out.

My kitties don't get meds very often. They hide when I try to give it to them.
How long has Willow had neuropathy?

Did you slowly wean her off Bupe? I read Opioid withdrawal can last a month. They have no energy & hide some times.

Except for her earlier IBD, Willow hasn't need meds and has been healthy as a horse except for the very occasional urinary infection. She started limping and going flat-footed on a front foot well before her diagnosis; we and the vet put it down to arthritis/possible hyperextension from a kittenhood injury, until she was diagnosed in November (then we realized it was neuropathy). Things went health-wise to hell in a handbasket since then, it seems. She's only been on bupe occasionally and intermittently, so no weaning. Hiding before the bupe. Thanks for thinking of us :)

I do hope you can get to the bottom of the hiding. Poor Willow. I've got to give the girl credit though, her spreadsheet still looks fantastic! Good luck with the dosecrease! :bighug::bighug:

I hope you can figure out why Willow is hiding.
Nice numbers today!
Remind me what the gaba is for?
Yes, especially her PMPS :) Tonight may be interesting.
Gaba is for neuropathy, and any other pain she may be experiencing, since we can't seem to identify the specific cause. She seems to go through good and bad periods on all 3 painkillers, so whatever is causing her to hide, if it's pain they aren't alleviating it completely. Have tried gaba, transdermal codeine, and oral bupe (which constipates her, even on lactulose, apparently.) The gaba may become a general fall-back pain med, because she seemed to be most comfortable when she was on it, but it may also have been a period when she was just pain-free anyway and happened to be on gaba. Ugh.

Her appetite has *really* been off today, she's been hiding for short periods intermittently, and has peed over her LB 3x; I would have given her mirtz but she was quite perky and purry (first time today) before pmps, and ate it a bit better (the first 2/3 anyway). Will possibly give mirtz tonight.

Thanks for thinking of us, with love
