08/06/18 Squallie AMPS 87, +4/60, PMPS 82

Yesterday

Squallie still hasn't pooped again, as far as I can determine. But he's still eating - not like he should be, but we're getting some groceries in there - and not vomiting, so I guess things are moving. He's getting cisapride and Miralax twice a day, and extra water, so that should be helping. I have to syringe the Miralax in water, and I'm terrified he'll aspirate it. He hates having anything put in his mouth. All in all, though, he seems pretty content, still doing a fair amount of purring, interacting with the other cats, jumping up on furniture, and so on. I'm so scared of this US on Thursday, praying, and praying, and praying even more that it shows nothing abnormal.

Squallie pooped around mid-day, it was a combination of formed and liquid. (I don't know whether or not that is significant.) Not using the LB for poops, I don't know why. He has lost more weight, he's down to under 12 lbs now. He's lost more than 2 lbs since June 29th. I am worried sick about him.

Lucy, we are thinking good thoughts for Deputy Squallie's US on Thursday. I know how worried you must be, but try to think positively. Good to see that Squallie is eating and that he had a poop (texture certainly influenced by the Miralax and the water!).

Thanks, Ella. I am trying to stay positive, but it's so hard when I see how much weight he's lost in such a short time, and when he just refuses to eat.

Let's hope this drop in weight will level out. Have you tried one of the recovery, high-calorie prescription foods? (Royal Canin, etc.). In any event, the ultrasound on Thursday should yield some answers. I hope he will eat some more tonight.

 

Lucy, when I syringe liquids into Murphy, I always do a small amount (~ 0.5 ml) at a time, and I aim for the side of his mouth to prevent aspiration. I'm sure thinking about Squallie and you on Thursday Glad he is eating and pooping some

 

I have tried some of those foods, he won't eat any of them. I did manage to syringe some a/d into him, along with a little bit of liver shake. I am glad he's having the US but I'm terrified about what it may show.

 

Thanks, Carol. That's pretty much been the method I've been following, too, and it was working very well until he decided he didn't like it and started fighting me over it. He has been so stressed the last week or so, poor boy, and I guess the syringing is just one more to add to it.
