Oh Paula I just don’t understand o_O
I wondering now if the constipation may be a part of something else o_O :(.
Her little girth is bloated up again today. (I gave her 1|4 t. Miralax and 1.5 ml Lactulose. No poop and hasn’t tried).

I’ve always taken it as a constipation warning. Yesterday I believed the squirts along with a loud troubling howl... subsequent foam vomit, came from my giving her too much chemical laxatives.
She is eating normal. Seems to be drinking a lot of water (diabetes well regulated o_O). No reason to believe kidney issue. She is quiet and moving around s.l.o.w... today. Wanted to stay inside- could be the heat? I will add that when Nelli has gotten like this, minus the bloated belly I’ve learned it is (clearly) depression. She’ll get very depressed when she comes in at dawn and has discovered ferals on her turf. The depression will last at minimum, all day... sometimes into the next.

I’ve done some research- hyperthyroidism, UTI?
Anyone? any thoughts, suggestions? :bighug:

@Krystina & Nelli ,

Bupre and lantus is constipating. I don't know about the other meds you give. It takes up to 3 days for miralax to work. Lactulose should work in about 4-6 hrs.

Ollie started out when after 5 days of not going but getting pumpkin. I started adding miralax twice a day. She started going a small amount. I doubled doses and still no improvement. She just didn't have the muscles to move it through. It took the cardiologist to suggest cisipride in his report and that's when she agreed to it. She didn't agree to lactulose so I had to get that from Canada cuz I need a script here.

I started with lactulose 12 hrs apart in addition to pumpkin and miralax. She went about 36 hrs later. Once she started eventually it turned to diarrhea by next day. So I cut the miralax out, then next time cut the pumpkin out and constipation was back. So by evening dose lactulose out and added miralax back in and needed to tweak though doses until we got it right. Then she started having problems again. Vet said add bulk so psyllium power tried and got her moving again. Now it's back to miralax, lactulose and her subq fluids twice a week (though lately I can't get them in twice). One thing is if I miss one day of lactulose, she doesn't go that night or next day.

You have to try different things, play with the order and doses until you get it right. Make sure lactulose is separated from miralax. I also make sure lactulose is separated from food and meds just in case it could interfere with absorption.

I gave her (only, Rx says 2-3mg)... 1.5 mg Lactulos bout 10 hours ago- 1|4 t of miralax.
She has not pooped.
So, without risking diarrhea, would you think two milliliters of lactulose before bed would be okay?

Ollie gets 2.5 ml lactulose. She use to get 3 ml I think that is what most give. I don't know if it would cause diarrhea tonight and ECID. My thought would be to not split dose that way. Give 1/4 tsp of miralax tonight then tomorrow start with the 2 or 3 ml of lactulose all at once in the morning then miralax at night.

My previous vet and cat, vet gave 3 ml lactulose in his office and said if he didn't go in 4 hrs to give another 3 ml.. It was the only time he needed it. After that the pumpkin alone worked for him.

Sending prayers. :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thanks Carla :bighug:
I am really worried about Nelli.
Her girth is very blown up. I went in room where she has hunkered down, to test her and give her a kiss gôodnight. Kept talking to her tellng her everything was going to be ok- that I wish Mommy knew what was wrong, that I wish she could tell me. She kept moaning at each thing I said- kept giving me lots of kisses.
I'm really worried about Nelli. I will get back on internet and keep researching.
Thanks again for all your hugs :cat: & :)
