08/26 civvie Mason finally ate

    Thank goodness, he finally ate! I was beginning to wonder if I'd have to let him go back outside, he is so, so fearful.

    He's suffered my touching him once or twice, with no sound whatsoever and no striking at me. If he was someone's pet, I wonder if he was poorly socialized, dumped with no outdoor experience, or maybe abused.

    My vet said he was in pretty good condition, though he feels a bit boney to me. But a 10 lb cat being thin means he might normally weigh 12-14 lbs and I could see losing 1-2 lbs in a few days for such a large cat.

    give him time, he'll come around. he just needs to understand that he is now safe and that you are good. it will happen and hopefully you will find him a good home.
