Happy Saturday all!
Scooter has just been cruising along earning his reductions. About a week ago he started seeming a little less enthused about his food. He ate, but just didn't inhale it like he has. Sometimes he didn't eat all of a snack when his feeder first turned, but would go finish it in a while. I chalked this up to him being regulated and not being starving all the time and going back to grazing instead of inhaling. The last two days he's been more picky, sometimes refusing his chicken pate unless I put some Tiki chicken in it. He also was not as interested in his chicken Pure Bites. I wondered if maybe he was just tired of chicken. Last night he refused his chicken pate and his Tiki chicken. I gave him some chicken and whitefish pate (Scooter loves seafood, but I have read that it's not that good for them so I save it for occasional) and he inhaled it. I fixed that in his feeder for the night. He ate his +2 and +4, but when I got up to test him at +7 he had not eaten his +6. With some coaxing and eating out of a spoon I got him to eat most of his + 6 and left the feeder open so he could eat his +7 if he wanted. When I got up this morning he had eaten a bit more. I fixed the chicken and whitefish for his breakfast, but he refused it. I got out some FF Salmon (his very favorite) and with coaxing and feeding him with a spoon, I got him to eat enough that I felt comfortable giving his shot. About 1/2 an hour later he went and inhaled the food in his feeder, licking up every last bit. I'm not sure if he's not feeling good, but his BG numbers are good and all 5 P's are in place. He didn't act nauseous this morning (no lip licking), but the fact that he ate really well after I got a little in him makes me think maybe he was???
Any ideas as to what might be going on with him? Scooter is usually a very good eater and not at all picky. Weather or not there's something else going on, I'm thinking I should order him a different food. I live in a very small town and there's not much available here. The nearest Petco is 80 miles away. I depend on Chewy for most food and treats. Any food or treat suggestions would also be welcome.
