Good Tuesday morning, LL :coffee::coffee:
WCR: Most Ps in place. Shasta's appy is pretty good this morning. She's finished off a little over an ounce of FF Chunky Chicken & some of her FFEMF Chicken w/ cosequin (hence the jump to 311 @ +1). She woke me up about +10 last night with the sounds of upchucking. :eek: :( She didn't actually throw up anything...well, nothing that I could see. I felt a little wetness on the carpet, but nothing much. After I cleaned it up, she hoped back in bed with me and snuggled. In fact, she was the best snuggler this morning.

I got a different perspective of her toenail last night when I decided to soak it in her anti-fungal shampoo. The toenail (sheath) has almost completely ripped off now. I did not see this coming. It was never this loose. I half expect her to tear it off completely, but she hasn't done it yet. I sent my pics and this video to my vet and we'll see what they say. And for those of you who don't know, Miss Shasta turns into a Tasmanian Devil when we step into the vet's office. The only way the vet can work on her is to sedate her (she has a heart condition on top of being 16 years old) and the last time we did this, she almost didn't fully come out of sedation. :nailbiting: I wish she were a better patient for our vet, but she's a one handler kind of cat.

Here's our quick video from last night. You'll see the toenail (sheath) pulls all the way back from what I thought was an odd growth, but may end up being the rest of the toenail?!

Top two pics were taken yesterday afternoon and the "sheath" was not loose. I was thinking the growth underneath it was an anomaly. However, the pics underneath were taken last night as I was soaking it and I could pull the sheath back and it was basically hanging on by a thread. o_O

Ok, sorry for the graphic pics. I'll let you all know what the vet says. Sending healthy vines to all our sugar kitties and their hoomins! Blessings!

Sending prayers that the vetty can help Shasta out "long distance". I remember what a hard time she had the last time she had to go on...poor girl.

Yay for happy appy and awesome snuggles. Have a great day, Deborah...and we'll be watching for updates!

Morning Deborah :coffee::coffee::coffee:

The claw really does look much better. Maybe loosing the outer part is just part of the healing, no clue. I hope the vet can help via the method chosen. I know what an ordeal is is for Shasta to go to the vet. Poor kitty....

Love the snuggles last night, well done Shasta.

Have a great day today. I hope all goes well.

Good luck today with finding out about Shasta's toenail. I hope the vet can help you without having to take Shasta in!

Healing vines!!!

Is there no way they can just give her a very light sedative....something you can give her at home in a pill and then run her over? Or have you thought of a mobile vet?

I agree it will be interesting to see what the vet says. Sending Miss Shasta tons of vines.

Yay for snuggles and a good appy. I hope the vet can help Shasta without you having to take her in. Sending prayers.

Owie! That looks uncomfortable for sure. It's a very good video, so hopefully the vet can help you out from that. Too bad you can't take her in. A mobile vet sounds like a good alternative.

I suppose you've tried it all, like a thundershirt, Feliway, etc.?

Sending toe healing vines.

In the past, my vet has offered to come to my house and do what he can, but I know for a fact that she is NO NICER. :mad: I did hear back from them today via email and a follow up phone call. Here is what they said: Typically when there is a fungal infection of the nail and nail bed the nail will eventually fall off. Continue the treatment as you are. Once the nail is gone it should continue to slowly get better. The little pink "growth" appears to be the nail quick.

So, with all that said, I'm going to get myself ready for her toe soaking. :( Poor girl is probably so pissed at me for messin' with her hurt toe. Sorry baby girl...just trying to make you feel good, along with all the lancet pokes, insulin syringe pokes and harpooning you with the sub-q fluids needle. :oops: Actually, at this very moment in time, she's pissed that I'm not allowing her to sit on my lap. Ok, time to soak a toe.

Thank you for all of your vines, kind words & suggestions. Next time I take her to the vet for a non-emergency visit, I will try to video tape some of it. Pure evil & hatred spills from her every pore. When we go to pay after the torture, the receptionist ladies always ask if everyone's ok. :blackeye: Is anyone bleeding? It's a little bit funny and very sad. :( :smuggrin:

I'm glad it sounds like it's just a healing process for her sweet little toe....Shasta honey, the soaking is WAY better than going the carrier, then in the car, then to the vetty, so let MamaBean help you, OK? It's 'cause she loves you!

I hope you and your girl get some R&R in tonight.

Poor Shasta. I hope she soon forgives you for the toe-soaking and for you not giving your smuggler some snuggles when she wanted them.
I once had a feisty-at-the-vetty kittygirl ~ I bet some of the vets/techs still have scars... :eek:
I love the pic of Shasta in yesterday's condo. She looks so innocent! What a sweetie. :cat:

I hope you're enjoying your evening, Deborah.

She really can be so sweet and innocent and kind of helpful. I think she was trying to tell me "Stop looking at the music, mom. It's way past our bedtime." Sweet girl! :kiss:
