Good morning friends
And with gentle healing vines for all in LL, in challenges, in transitions, on journeys.

This will be a vet day for Azalea and also if I can get Spunky in for a separate appointment (Spunky does not do anything well with other female cats).

Today would have been Azalea's weekly fluids b12 and recheck but she vomited during the night which is very unusual for her.

Spunky, though on different fud and separated from the others, vomited this morning, too.

So here we go again, crossing paws and anti jinxing all the way.

Sorry about the vomits :( Sending positive vetty vines and :bighug::bighug::bighug:
Sending vetty and tummy vines.:bighug::bighug::bighug:
Thanks Amanda and Karen, much appreciated and needed. I haven't words to describe how viscerally dejavu
pukus is to me. But you know.

Bringing Azalea in early so that we can get home in time to bring Spunky in before vetty closes for the weekend.
Heading out in a couple minutes. Will update after the vetty marathon.
Love hugs and thanks,
Sina

Just now home from vet with Azalea, did bw first then fluids and b12. Mouth a mess, clavamox to be on board today (thought it was arriving earlier this week). Will upload or SS azalea's b/w if eyes more experienced than mine would like to evaluate.

Now to bring Spunky in. Likely with some drama there bc she can turn vicious in a nano second when afraid.

BBL and hugs

Hi, home now from round #2 at vetty, this time with Spunky. No b/w for her today....she has to be sedated....and today was the tech wearing leather gloves to hold Spunky in position for limited exam when Spunky began to freak out. Vet got close look at both ears, non -polyp ear fine, polyp ear needed a semi deep clean bc middle ear filling with waxy pus again. The polyp is same size in same position now described as perforated/ruptured the ear drum.
Temp normal, what he could see of mouth ok. Wt same 11.4#. Suggests polyp ear creating ear infection and the cause of pain. Suggests try clavamox twice daily (ear drop a/b and other a/b haven't helped in the past). Suggests do cerenia if she vomits again or doesn't eat tonight. Does not suggest pain meds at this time (she's not a good candidate for pain meds anyway). So, here we go again.

We took leisurely ride home (Spunky likes car rides) then sat in car for awhile. Then I got a good swat during the get back in carrier routine and a nano-second mid-road (meaning could be worse) bite when bringing fresh fud for her. You're very welcome, Spunky.

Re Azalea: I've entered today's bw on her labs tab in SS. Felt very sad to do so without Sootie's info being active. Vet examined her mouth, it's a mess again and anxious to start the clavamox that's scheduled to arrive today (why he doesn't keep it in his stock is beyond me). Thinks the recurring mouth infection the trigger for vomiting and recent iffy appy, and most of the off values in today's b/w. Thinks the renal numbers not great but also might be reflection of being slightly dehydrated/pain/vomiting. She's lost 5/10# since last Friday.

I've got to collect myself, pull out the box of bandaids and the antibacterial ointment to tend my wounds of the day!! At least I didn't fall down;)

Oh yes, today I ordered some of the vrs entero support probiotic that's been recommended as beneficial for feline oral health. Worth a try especially for Azalea.

Oh what a day for you! What are they going to do about Spunky's ear drum and Azalea 'S mouth? Why they couldn't have done the eye and mouth at the same time but most vets won't do a mouth procedure (bacteria) with another procedure. :blackeye:

Hi Bobbie,
Re Spunky's ear polyp: he says location too deep and size too small to pull. In the past (about a year ago) he suggested the surgery that I think removes the ear canal. I nixed it then andvwith remedies, the infection cleared up for awhile. The polyp itself hasn't grown, I think in large part bc the remedies. But the fluid builds up again now more frequently. He hasn't suggested the other surgery again. I'd been looking for veterinary ear polyp specialists; they are few and far between around here and, honestly, I get sick to my stomach thinking about going to specialists given our gi specialist experience with Sootie.

However, azalea's eye specialist was terrific. So I should check myself when getting tied up in knots about specialists. The eye specialist did Azalea's enucleation surgery, so her mouth wasn't his Bailey wick and even if it was, I think he wouldn't want to compound risk of infection. The eye surgery was risky enough with her age and the renal function concerns.

I'm getting in touch with one of my HV's to revisit both Azalea's and Spunky's remedies. I could seek out a dental specialist for Azalea, too, but same thing....find the right one who will be truly mindful of Azalea's age and special needs. I don't want us go through any more land mine fields.

The clavamox arrived this afternoon so will start that tonight and bump up the probiotics for them both.

This is such a difficult year so far for so many, I hate adding to it with my worries for these two of Sootie's family. Sending more vines in whatever ways that help for those struggling through so many challenges.

I hope the clavamox helps both kitties. How frustrating about Spunky's polyp. My vet suggested the ear canal removal surgery for Furball at one point. I decided not to do it. I hope your HV can come up with something for both kitties. Sending prayers.

Thanks Carla. Will let you know if he changes any ear remedies (and I'm still sifting my way through my desk to find the initial remedy info from 3 years ago. I used to be so organized).
