Thanks, Angela. I got a +1 which I don't usually get to help me decide later when to stop feeding him.

Thanks Carla. No poop yet. No cooperation from Max. I was hoping not to feed him again but this drop made it necessary. Hopefully he will surf without any more food now. I always fear lipemic blood if he is fed too close to a blood draw.

:arghh: I wanted him fasted and he has to go low on me. In case the Arkray is correct I had to feed him some more mc. If he goes up some it will only be about 3 hours without food if my vet isn't on time.

Brat! Must have left your computer open and Max read the condo. Way up please Max!

Sending lots of good vetty vines for today.

Max! Did you have to pull this stunt today???

Your mamabean had it all planned out, and you had to go and ruin things! I guess "the best laid plans of mice and men" didn't include cats!!

Hope the vetty visit goes well Elise!

Just got back from the vet and before I could do anything go a phone call from the pharmacy that you use, Chris. I need to send them your last name so that you can get credit for referring me.

We had a long wait as he had a couple of fit in appointments. Max's BG was 145 there and when I got home which was about 20-30 minutes after they took it he was 134 here at +9. Since he was at 62 before I left he did get a bit of a rise from the experience I think.

My vet ran a blood panel and urinalysis. No real answers as to what to do for the constipation. I gave him the url for the article on miralax and he said he would look into it for me. He has never used slippery elm bark but said he would be willing for me to try it. The only other thing he wanted to do was a fructosamine to see if we should lower his insulin. I respectfully declined stating that the dental would be expensive enough. I booked it for next Wednesday assuming his labs show that he is good to go. They already started the dental discount and it goes until March. He said the hearing loss is to be expected in a cat his age. He wants him to lose weight and so do I.

Max seems confused. I just went over to pet him and he walked away from me. This is kind of strange. I guess he is mad at me.

Sorry you didn't get any conclusive answers on the constipation, Elise. I know that has to be frustrating. I'm sending more good poopy vines out for Max.

His numbers look great again today - even with the vetty stress spike.

Paws are crossed for good lab results and dental next week!
Shelly

(Edited for annoying typo!)

Thanks for stopping by Marilyn and Ruth. I came back from taking a walk with my friend and her golden and couldn't find Max. His little excursion seems to have woken him up. He wasn't in my room where he usually hangs out. Not under the bed. Then I found him in the den. Got his test and insulin, ate a little. Now's he's back in the den. Maybe he is branching out.

Max has been very active (for Max) since coming back from the vet. He's been exploring the other rooms in my place and hasn't been sleeping. We have poop too!
