Was gone all day. Dad was not hurt in any of his falls. Definitely confused, disoriented. He tried to leave after midnight last night. He now has a wander alarm on. If he goes out the building alarms will go off.
It seems to be sundowners syndrome as it's called. Happens only at night. I was there when hospice showed up. I told them in no uncertain terms they need to get some medication on order or I will come in and medicate him myself regardless of the facility rules until something is done.
So I tried to get the script from ER filled today. Went to 3 pharmacies, not one carries haldol anymore. Hospice doesn't like ativan or xanax (facility will allow these 2) because it can make people to drowsy and he is now risk of falls. They want haldol, but hospice finally ordered Xanax to start with. I just told them I will not allow what happened Saturday to happen again.
