Sorry we were MIA yesterday. Mark & I spent the day with some friends, celebrating a birthday. We rushed home to T/F/S, feed & medicate everyone (and check on Harvey), and left again for dinner and cards with friends. We came home earlier than usual to do Minka's fluids and check on Harvey. It was so nice to get out and do something fun, but of course, the kids were on my mind the whole time.

Cinco was a very good boy and stayed in the mid blues while we gone. Today he ventured into the shallow end of the lagoon. :D He continues to be my lowest maintenance and least stress-inducing cat (huge anti-jinx).

I am worried about Minka and would like some feedback. She did not eat much this morning, despite a dose of Mirtz and her usual Ond and Pepcid. This afternoon and evening she wouldn't eat anything - even FF. I gave her some more Ond and about 10 minutes later she threw up. For about 30 min before that she was going from lb to lb, trying to go and producing nothing. She doesn't look like she's straining, just trying to go and not having success. I don't think she's constipated, but of course, it's hard to tell what she's trying to do. Right now she is lying in one of her favorite spots, not meatloafing, but looking uncomfortable. I'm going to try some more Ond in a few minutes. My question is, does anyone think this is worrisome enough that I should take her to an ER, or would it be okay to wait and call her Oncologist first thing in the morning? I'd appreciate your thoughts. :nailbiting:

Harvey is doing well. I'm backing down the Bupe as he seems comfortable. He started at .2ml. Last night I gave .175 and this morning .15 For his next dose I was planning to give .1. I was thinking about continuing to give him .05 for a few days, to keep him calm and allow the incisions to heal. So far the Bupe is doing that. He didn't even fight me when I put him in the carrier so I could clean his cage. He's not acting drugged or out of it, just calm (which is really weird for him). His appetite is pretty good.

DH just checked Minka and said she looks a little better, so maybe throwing up helped.

Sasha's appy is still a little iffy, but with persistence I think I'm getting enough food into her.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF and DH, Lisa's DF and Elise's DM.

That's a tough call, Tricia, especially since I don't know anything about the meds (e.g., how quickly they kick in, how "powerful" they are in getting cats to eat, etc.). Is there any chance Minka could have swallowed anything "forbidden"? My sister's dog recently ate a stuffed toy that wouldn't pass through his system, so that type of issue is fresh on my mind.

I'm bumping to get some more experienced eyes on your question.

Sending lots of vines for Minka.

Oh, Tricia, I'm so sorry. Do you think Minka has a UTI? That is the first thing that comes to my mind. I'd watch her and if she seems comfortable wait until morning. Go with your gut in this. You have good instincts.

Echoing Elise, here. Just so darned sorry you have another serving on your already full plate.

Just from my limited experience. Box hopping without producing anything sure can indicate a UTI. I, too, would watch and wait. Excessive box hopping (like from one to another to another to another without breaks in between for an extended period), obvious painful discomfort, intense straining, I'd be more concerned.

Go with your gut in this. You have good instincts.

Exactly.

When you say she's trying to go potty...do you mean she's trying to pee or poo? If she's trying to pee and can't, I'd take her to the ER. If she's trying to poo and just hasn't been able to today, it's probably less of an emergency.

Glad you got out and I am glad Cinco had a good day.

That's just it, Marje. I can't tell which she's trying to do. She doesn't try for long, but I just don't know. She's stopped doing it since she threw up and seems more relaxed.

Sorry to hear Minka's not feeling well tonight Tricia! ...I know if your gut tells you to get to the ER, that's where you'll go

Hopefully it was just a tummyache

Cinco....your mamabean's got her hands full, so don't you pull any fast ones on her!

Aaahhh.....my cats definitely have their bottoms up alot higher if they are trying to poo and squat really low if they are peeing so it's easy to tell the difference.

I'm glad she's settled a bit; maybe it's poo and that's why she vomited. I know you're watching her closely. I hope it's constipation and she's better tomorrow.

She did have her tail up the one time I actually saw her in the attempt. She didn't stay there for long, which is why I didn't think it was poo. However, now I'm thinking it might have been gas, like Harvey gets, and throwing up relieved that. I took her some food just now and she went for it eagerly. DH is watching her very, very closely.

Thank you so much, Marje, Chris, Elise, Shelly and Marilyn. I may have pushed the panic button prematurely, but I'm so on edge right now - about all of them, but especially her. o_O:(

I am SO glad Minka is feeling better now. These kitties....they know how to get our attention, don't they? Poor girl...keep feeling better, Minka!

Yea for green! Max loves the company. You must be so exhausted. I hope the wine helps you get some sleep.
