Ming vomited his at +1. I suspect he was finishing up his breakfast and puked. He was willing to eat some treats but not the rest of his breakfast. Gave cerenia. Then he puked out the treats so I gave him ondansetron.
Let him rest for an hour and took his BG and fed him a different flavour of FF. He ate well.
He’s low for +2 but my sister is watching him while my mom and I go for breakfast and an appointment
My thoughts: Lately, I've been more active on the forum and reading other people's condos and have come across a few kitties who are getting larger doses of insulin. I remember asking if anyone on the forum has had to dose as large as Ming but was not an acro cat and saying no, not at the time. It's a little comforting seeing kitties like Ming (needing more insulin) even though it's unfortunate that they do. I do hope it's just because they need to break toxicity or there's something else going on that isn't acro or IAA related but *shrug*
The third option for higher doses is Cushings, IAA is easier to manage. It’ll be interesting to see what happens if Ming gets off of prednisolone. Chances are good those other higher doses cats also have one of the “high dose” conditions. In the time I have been here, with the higher dosed kitties that have been tested, they have all had one of those conditions. Not everyone gets the tests done, though personally I would prefer knowing what I am dealing with. It can also impact dosing decisions, and for some conditions there are treatment options. Of course, testing comes at a price.
I do hope the pred makes a difference too. And yikes! For now, I'm confident in saying Ming probably doesn't have Cushings?? I don't know. I've come to realize nothing is impossible.
There's a word in cantonese that I can't think of in English that really encompasses what Ming is like when he's low. In Cantonese ("bak yeem") it means troublesome, daring, sort of rebellious, and bold (all at the same time). Ming is sooooo "bak yeem". He's running around and climbing on tables and chairs. Looking out the window and sashaying his tail at the invisible birds outside (I didn't see any). And knocking stuff off my dresser while I'm at my desk watching Netflix as if to say, "Look at me! Feed me!" and then not eating when I actually feed him like he's going, "Ha! Fooled ya! I'm not actually hungry."
You know, actually acting like a cat Usually, he's my polite boy who follows me around, meows sweetly and goes to sleep in his box. This wild side is fun though!
Sounds like Ming is acting like a kitten. Trouble maker?
Usually with Cushings there is a pot belly, likely thinning of fur, especially in the belly, or some other skin issue. Doesn’t sound like Ming. Especially since his FD diagnosis was 10 months ago,
Hi Crista. Ming had a nice cycle today! With prednisolone in the equation, the numbers could be higher. Hopefully, he will be able to wean down from the pred someday soon.

Thanks! Yes, we plan to wean him off pred in February. He's going in for base line tests as requested by the vet on Feb 6. I wanted to do it sooner but vet told me to chill LOL Feb 6 works out for both our schedules so that's why.

That is great news and I hope you'll see his numbers going down. When that happens, you will want to continue being diligent as you are now with the testing.
