I’m not home but my mom informed me Ming vomited about 3 times around +3. She gave him cerenia and bupe.

He ate a little bit of FF chicken and some treats but my mom says he’s not too interested in food right now. And he’s usually very hungry. His BG is high as well.

He’s acting okay though. He’s walking around and exploring and lying on the floor and not in front of water or anything.

I’m just wondering: if Ming doesn’t want to eat for PM, should I still give him 7 units of insulin? I am able to monitor all night as well.

Edit as of +3 in the PM cycle:
Thought I would summarize/make a timeline of the thread so people don't have to read the whole thing.

AMPS: 328. Ate 1 can of FF as normal (I went to work)
~+1: Mom saw Ming vomit food twice and white foam once. She later found another spot of white foam vomit upstairs. Gave cerenia.
+3 = 356.
Ate temptation treats and small mouthfuls of FF throughout the day. He usually eats 1 can and wants more.
+5 = 349. Mom gave 0.3 mL bupe. He was walking around, curious about the groceries and was acting okay.
+8 = 394
+10 = 410. He vomited food again.

PMPS = 374. Would not eat his 1/2 can of FF chicken. Sister put some tube paste on top and he ate about 1/3 of half can. Gave 7 units.
+2 += 380. I came home. Hand fed him some treats and FF. He ate only a little. I gave 0.3 mL bupe and ~100 mL of SQ fluids.
He started sitting in front of his water bowl but only for brief amounts of time. But will walk around and go lay downstairs and sleep in my sister's room (something he usually does when he feels bad).

We have been looking to see if he'll use the litterbox to do a ketone test since +8 AM cycle but he has not gone to the bathroom as of +3.5 PM.

+4 = 333. And he ate 3/4 can of FF!!!!!!!!

Oops! I used World numbers for the title. I’ll change them when I have time. Just about to go back to work.

With DKA in the history, I would definitely give some insulin. Remember that kitties undergoing anesthesia who cannot eat, get at least a half dose of insulin. And if he's not feeling well, his numbers will be higher too. Has anyone managed to get a ketone test in lately? I think I'd determine the size of dose tonight based on whether he's eating more and his numbers closer to shot time. When Neko wasn't eating much, I'd give full dose and assist feed enough calories, possibly even giving slightly higher LC. Royal Canin Recovery (8% carbs) was good for that.

Thanks Wendy. No I failed to do a ketone test the last few days.

I’ll ask my mom to do a +10 test and also let you know his PMPS. I won’t be home until +2 of the PM cycle but will update this thread when my mom tells me the numbers.

Hi there. Can you put DKA in your signature? I am not familiar with you and Ming and knowing that would influence dosing advice.

I hope that he will start eating on his own so that you won't have to assist feed.

He vomited food again. My sister tried some treats. Won’t eat but he’s walking around and alert. Hoping he eats some dinner

+2 at PM is 380.

Gave him maybe about 80 mL of SQ fluids because he ran away too soon. I’ll maybe try again later. He sat in front of his water bowl as usual when he’s feeling crummy.

He didn’t eat a whole 1/3 can. He ate 1/3 of half a can of FF chicken.

Has not peed yet so can’t get ketone test.

He’s acting... slow? He didn’t greet me at the door. And he won’t eat his regular food. He ate 4 pieces of temptation treats. Offered him the freeze dried raw treats but he won’t eat that.

I've made a little summary in the first post of what happened today.

He hasn't gone pee yet. :banghead:

I might bring him to the vet tomorrow if he doesn't eat tomorrow morning. I was thinking they could do a blood test for pancreatitis and give me an appetite stimulant (I'll have to beg for that lol). I will also ask about ondansetron since he's still nauseas after cerenia. I also wonder if they'll want to do another ultrasound and/or increase his pred.

Best case scenario at the vet: He doesn't need to be hospitalized and I get more SQ fluids, ondansetron, and cypro and go home while we wait for blood test results.

WooO!!!!!!! He ate 3/4 of a can of FF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think he was super stoned an hour ago and then he ate :) :) :) :)

+4 = 333

Yeah! Glad he ate. Ondansetron you get at the people pharmacy, you get the script from the vet. Make sure they ask for the generic. Last quote I got for Zofran the brand was $17 per pill. Fortunately the same manufacturer also makes a generic.
