o_O Bit of a wobble this morning, but he demanded his "first breakfast" at PMBG +7 instead of +8 or +9 so maybe that's the reason (i.e., he hadn't eaten for 5 hours when I tested him this morning). I also added some Weruva into his rotation after reading about the phosphorus levels in Fancy Feast.

So Mr. P. is clearly working, but should I be concerned about this pattern of higher mornings? Is that just the "dawn phenomenon" and/or should I be concerned that his cycles aren't a bit flatter? I'm not sure feeding every three hours is a sustainable long-term solution (errands? vacations? general life stuff?). We used to have a PetSafe feeder and it took Olive about two days to figure out how to open it.:cat:

I just want to ensure as strong a remission as possible and could use some input from the experts on how he's doing with this trial. Thank you all for putting up with me and my nerves!

one thing that might help is to mark on his spreadsheet when you feed him. You can just put a * in the cell when he has a snack. That might help you see how long it takes him to go down after a snack, and when he starts to go back up again. I remember that Lucy's pattern at first was that she would often stay high for 3 hours after a snack, but the +4 would suddenly be lower. Maybe 5 hours is too long for him right now

It shouldn't have to be done that way forever, but you're trying to help prod the pancreas into doing its job, while also trying not to overwhelm it. He wasn't in normal numbers for a super long time before going OTJ, so it's possible that his pancreas still has some healing to do and is just getting tired. The more you can do to baby it along right now, the better.

OK, thank you. I will start noting his meals in the SS. I'm still struggling to get into a rhythm with the more frequent feedings...the first day or two I realized I wasn't getting enough calories into him. And yesterday he slept after his AMBG +3 feeding til about +8, so I probably should have tested to see where his BG was after that 5-hour window with no food. The FD learning curve--it doesn't end after insulin!
