Good luck with the dosecrease.

I think that last nights blacks might have been a bit of a bounce from the drop he had in the morning cycle, he dropped 200pts by +7 , and that +7 might have been him on his way up, it's possible that he might have gone a little lower, and it's probably lower than he's been in a while.
Bounces can be triggered, by large drops, dropping into low number, fast drops, getting into numbers that kitty isn't used to.

We'll keep our paws crossed that this is his magic dose.

Wok the Juice Chino!!

Chino was crying for food a little after +9. I checked his BG at +9.25 and it was 199 - yay! I wanted to see how much lower it might go without intervention, but he deserved a treat since I've stuck him so many times today, so I gave him a small piece of freeze-dried chicken liver.

Way to go, Chino! Now PLEASE DON'T BOUNCE!

Ya! Way to go Chino! And Adrian! I know how happy/relieved I feel when my kitty can finally throw a blue number after being in high numbers so long. Hoping he continues to come down over the next few cycles. Good luck! We'll be watching and rooting for you both on the sidelines! :bighug::):cat:

I live in Florida, so I know I have no right to complain, but it was COLD today. Couldn't take my narcolepsy meds because I stayed up too late testing Chino's blood sugar, so I combined 3 prescriptions that expired 5+ years ago, slept until 7, tested/fed/shot, then went back to sleep on the living room couch. Woke up 2 hours later with the fuzzball (civvie) on my chest, sucking on my quilt :)

When I used to travel every week for work, I'd sleep on the couch on the weekends so I could get more time with my babies. I can't do that anymore now that they're fed twice a day. I feed them around 0700, but they start scratching at my bedroom door and yowling as early as 0530. There's also no such thing as sleeping in since Chino started on Lantus.

I'm in a really strange place with all of this. It was GREAT to see blue today, even though he was only 1 mg/dL away from yellow. And I'll be THRILLED to see green, even though it means I'll be missing even more sleep to stay up and test when it happens overnight. I don't know how people maintain a healthy lifestyle while dealing with this. Even though I work mainly from home now, there's so much work to get done that I don't often get a lunch break. And I won't eat dinner before I've fed them because I don't want them to have to watch me eat while they're hungry and waiting for test/shot time. I've lost at least 5 pounds since this started.

It will be testing time again in 20 minutes, so I'm off to change the litterbox, poke Chino's little ear again, and pour some more rum. If it looks like he might go green tonight, I will GLADLY stay up for it! Please, please, please don't bounce tonight, Chino.

I HEAR this....My kitty was diagnosed about 6+ weeks ago and I was off for almost 3 weeks over the holiday vacation and I didn't get to sleep in ONCE. I was kind of bummed about it because I always have to get up early for work so I really look forward to sleeping in on the weekends and holidays (no kids here).
This weekend I DID get to sleep in, but I still had to get up and TFS but I went right back to bed after. I'll be honest, it still sucks getting out of your warm snuggly place and trying to clear the sleep from your eyes so you can read tiny dashes on an insulin syringe, but it is what we have to do.

I am still wondering this myself. I think it does get easier once you get a good routine down, and probably mostly when you get kitty more regulated and can predict more how he is going to react to insulin. You're still new like me, so every dose we are still not sure what's going to happen. It's scary to be honest. But I think (hope) it does get better. I'm sure some of the wise Ladies of Lantus will be by soon to chime in and give some wonderful and comforting sounding advice. They always do.

Even though you have a very busy schedule, you are very fortunate to be able to work from home so you can test. I do not have those circumstances so every day I shoot my kitty with insulin and leave for work, I'm scared and fearful that something bad will happen to him and I won't be there. It really drives me mad and makes my heart ache. I've read stories on this board of folks who overdosed their kitty accidentally and it's just gut wrenching. You are fortunate you can stop what you are doing, even for 30 seconds, and grab that ear pokey.

I'll keep following your journey. I'm not sure how many SS of others you have looked at, but I look at almost every cats when I see a name I haven't looked at yet, and I have seen many MANY cats that were in the red and blacks like Chino has been that have come down, been regulated, and some have gone into remission. Stay positive Adrian...it's only going to get better from here!:bighug:

2 hours after that beautiful 222, he's at 402. Is this a food spike or a bounce? Either way, I'm going to find and confiscate that pogo stick.

Oh no... That's probably an anticipated bounce since he had that nice pretty blue today and a lot of yellow- lower numbers that he is probably not yet used to. Ozzy is going through the exact same thing right now after having his best day yet yesterday. He has his PMPS in 45 min and I'm curious what his numbers are going to be. He was pretty high today also.
