AMPS = 76.
During/after food 15 minutes later = 79

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Yesterday in the middle of the AM cycle, I was thinking of increasing for the PM cycle and both @Chris & China and @Wendy&Neko advised me to wait the full 6 cycles before increasing. And I thought: I bet Ming will get low and make a fool out of me since historically, whenever I wanted to increase early, Ming would get low the very next cycle haha

And loooow he went!

I had meant to take a +4 reading last night but I fell asleep and the alarms I set weren't enough to wake me up. I had 4 alarms set on my phone. I usually also set up my desk alarm but I didn't so yep. I woke up at +9 and did a reading and was surprised to see 139.

My mom and I had initially planned for her to shoot in the morning to let me sleep in. After seeing 139, I thought I'd wake up for his AMPS. I, of course, did not hear my alarms AGAIN and my mom started the AMPS process. So that's why you see on the title that the second reading was during food. I woke up and went down and saw him eating, heard my mom say he's at 76. So I did another reading for the heck of it and got a 79.

We shot 7.5 units 10 minutes later. I'll be testing him soon in a few minutes just in case.

Edit: Also, we've been doing this for a while now but my mom usually does a reading 20 - 25 minutes before shot time. And feeds within it. It's because my mom (her words) is slower and needs the time to prepare to give Ming his insulin. She's still a little afraid Ming will bite her after that one time he did so she gives him a lot of pets and sits with him. So I've adopted this timeline too even though I've been advised to give insulin within 5-10 mins of eating. For us, it's probably within 15 and up to 20 mins of eating. I personally don't think it's too much of a difference but let me know if you think otherwise! :D

Oh, how they like to surprise us! :smuggrin:

Re timing of shot after PS and food: I have a bigger cushion of 30 to 45 minutes because I can't rush around too much. Slow and deliberate for me (disability). Doesn't seem to be a problem. :)

+2 = 49

Gave 1 tsp of FF gravy.

This cat... hahaha. I’m glad it’s my day off

Also forgot to mention that my mom was awoken by the King, I mean Ming :smuggrin:, at around +10 in the PM cycle and she gave him 1/4 of a can of FF. Then found vomit. So we gave cerenia today in the AM cycle.

And he’s drinking water. Maybe he feels dizzy from being low? He’s had cerenia and ondansetron around +1 and +1.5

Yes I’ve been giving him HC which is the fancy feast gravy and chicken. I’ve also added some temptations treats this time.

I’ll use the honey now

+3.5 = 58

PHEW!!! Although I’m going to keep testing and also I went overboard. I gave him honey, temptations treats (about 10), and more FF gravy (half of a can maybe less?).

Right now he’s sitting on his window sill in a loaf position with his eyes closed. He might be dizzy or something :( Before feeding him at +3, he was walking around, meowing for food and to go outside.

He may have an upset stomach from all the treats and honey he's not used to getting. Check at +4 (no food). If it is holding steady or rising, then you can wait until +5 to test again.

+4 = 72

Aw :( I'll probably give him SEB when he has his snack later if he'll eat it. In the past, when he rises or goes down too fast, I've noticed he'll drink water or act tired/dizzy. An upset stomach makes sense too now!

Edit: I haven't given food since after the +3 reading

+4.5 = 97

I think I'll give him a break (and my wallet because these strips are expensive!) and test at +5.5 or even at +6 if I dare? He's sleeping comfortably now

ETA: meant to add the link to yesterday’s post, the one above is two days go. http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/1-7-ming-pmps-356-2-295-amps-410-5-346.209158/

Oops!!! Thanks Wendy!

Wow! Ming kept you busy today!
I was just talking to my mom and saying how when this happened 2 months ago, I was nearly in tears and a shaking mess. But today I was pretty ok about it. It was only when I thought, “Do I have to go to the vet if he gets even lower????” Was when I panicked a little and gave him a lot of HC :facepalm:

It does get less nerve racking with time and experience. Of course, I’ve had it really easy with Scooter. He has only ever gone into the high 40’s and came right up with a little MC.
