I honestly don't know if there's one good or right answer to your question. Do you know for sure that she has food allergies? Her numbers yesterday don't look any different than most of her other days other than you were seeing more green at pre-shot. Ever since you started caring for Deandra, her numbers have all been below 200. There's not a lot of difference in carbs between the EVO duck (5%) and Wellness chicken (4%). Is there any possibility that this could be environmental/seasonal allergies? I'm not sure where you're located but it's been miserable for most people with allergies in the midwest. You could also try allergy meds or adding omega-3 to her diet providing she's not allergic to fish. Ella uses a non-omega-3 allergy product that she says is very good. You could try that to see if it help unless you know that this is a food allergy.

We don't know what's up with her. She came to the shelter months ago with a horribly drippy eye and a nasty bald coat. Then developed a severe URI so she has been on a lot of meds to try to fix things. It seemed like her eyes would water soon after she ate when I first started to care for her at the shelter so food allergies became a suspicion. Since she came to our house she'd stopped pulling out hair, but the eye dripping continued, maybe even a little worse. I found clumps of hair in her room 2 days ago showing she'd started pulling out hair again so we decided to see if changing back to the Duck would make a difference again (she decided she doesn't like it that much and doesn't always eat it, that's why we stopped it). This morning her eyes looked really good for the first time in a while.
True she has been under 200. But since the switch to Wellness, she has been under 130 and we've only been finding her over 100 at shot time. On less insulin. She seemed to run those 50s and 60s numbers for quite a bit of the cycle. Haven't seen her pop that early and fast unless we've given her gravy. In fact when I saw the 79 only 30min after the 51 I went up and asked Jason if he'd given her gravy when he saw the 51.

I think I may contact EVO and see if anything has changed in their formula with all the changes in that product line. Talk to the shelter vet tech about maybe trying some Benedryl. We have been having to give some of the other cats Benedryl this year that haven't needed it before, but were able to stop about 2-3 weeks ago.

She most likely is bouncing from that low number. It can take several cycles to clear or just one. ECID.

Hopefully it is just weird timing of a high bounce. Though low 50s are Ds normal these days. We'll see what this next cycle brings, she if she recovers back to her 50s and 60s like normal.

And the detective work continues. Hope you solve the puzzle.

When I was back in Wisconsin, I had a few cats who experienced seasonal allergies. Ragweed? Never had them tested, just observed fall eye discharge every year. I don't know. It passed with the first frost. Yes, I used to pray for frost!

Good luck uncovering the mystery.

Hi! Billie had major problems with food allergies to something in Merrick a while back (hives and respiratory issues) and we tried a lot of novel protein food. Evo should be LC unless they changed something like you said. It never messed with Billie's numbers. We also tried Wild Calling and Instinct. They have a lot of novel protein food including duck and most of the Instinct food is around 2%. Billie liked Instinct rabbit. It can take a month on a novel protein to see improvement with food allergies so if it hasn't been that long, maybe more time will help.

Billie also has a fish oil supplement like Sienne mentioned. Nordic Naturals omega 3 for cats and small dogs.

I hope D feels better soon!!

Zyrtec may be better than benedryl.

I have more info on allergies on my home computer. There is a topical that my vet recommended that may help. Once I'm home from work, I'll see if I can dig up the info. I had a spring/summer where Gabby was trying to lick her tummy bald!

Was there anything stressful that occurred? Some of the hair pulling could be stress related since it also seemed to stop when you brought Deandra home and she was out of the shelter environment.

@Sienne and Gabby was the topical Dermoscent? our vet just recommended it for Izzy. We've only been using it a couple of weeks, but the dry flaky skin she has had since we got her is completely gone. It was $30 at the vet but you can get it on Amazon for $16. It does have essential oils, but is mostly Omega 6 &3.

@Ann & Tess --

Here's the info from my (former - only because I moved) vet:

"There are several options—there is a product called Allerderm which is applied once weekly to the skin which can be quite helpful for itchy or dry skin. Additional fish oil omega-3 fatty acids, 200-250 mg daily, are often helpful, but may take up to 2 weeks to really have an effect. Antihistamines are often helpful—we seem to have the best success with Zyrtec, which is over-the-counter, or hydroxyzine which is a prescription medication.

We have Allerderm here, but you may be able to order it online. Zyrtec dosage is ½ of a 10 mg tablet by mouth (in food…) twice daily, or about every 12 hours, try for 7 days. Watch for drowsiness or restlessness, although side effects from Zyrtec are not likely or are very mild. Use plain Zyrtec, or cetirizine, only—no combo meds. The fish oil product we use is AllerG3, or you can use human products. "

When I tried an omega-3, I used Nordic Naturals.

Wellness makes a Turkey and Duck formula that I give my kitty. It's 5% carbs. Perhaps something that is slightly less duck might be tastier to her but, if it is food allergies she has, help control what's bothering her. Good luck figuring it out. Sending out lots of purrs to Deandra to get better!
