Yesterday at Tricia's House of Chaos

I don't know if I can post one of my semi-humorous condos today, as my heart is heavy and my eyes full of tears. Our dear Tess is flying free and I just can't seem to think of anything more important than how Ann and John are feeling right now. Hugs and prayers to them both, and to all of us here at L&L Land that loved that little cat. :(

Cinco continues to underperform at his new dose. I really hope it's just inflammation, as some have suggested, and will get better in time. He did make a cameo appearance in the lagoon last night. I guess I shouldn't complain, because I didn't have to worry about him today while I was gone with Sasha.

Minka's appy was crappy again. I syringed 9 cc of Purina NF and gave her some Cerenia and Cypro before I Ieft, but she didn't eat anything while I was gone and nothing when I got home, altho I offered four different cat foods and baby food. I'll syringe some more tonight if she still isn't eating, and call the vet if it continues tomorrow (that threat worked before, so thought I'd try it again).

Sasha had her dental recheck. We didn't get to see the same dentist, as she was handling an emergency, but the one we did see said she had participated in Sasha's procedure, so she knew what was going on. The tech picked her up and Sasha went right for the shoulder hug. The tech also remembered her, and she held her like that for the entire exam. The dentist said that the reason the tooth was irritating the gum was that her lower teeth were missing and there was nothing to stop it from going right down into the gum. The area was red again, and she said it will keep happening. There are two solutions. The first is to file down the teeth so they can't reach the gum. This is problematic as they can't be sure if they've filed off enough until the procedure is done and she's no longer intubated. They would also have to do root canals on those teeth, which is difficult on such a small cat. The second option is to pull the teeth. We agreed that was the better option, but they don't want to do it right away. They said to watch and see if it's bothering her, or gets really inflamed again, and then they would do the extractions. It could take months to get to that point and they don't like to pull perfectly good teeth unless they have to..

Harvey hoovered through his breakfast, then decided he didn't like that flavor when I gave him seconds. He cleaned up most of the food that Minka rejected, though.

Time to go get my pretzel bites. bbl.

Sending healing vines to all in need and hugs to all their beans, especially Sienne & Gabby, Deborah & Shasta, Carla & her civvie Baby, Wendy & civvie Theo, and Marje & Gracie. :bighug: Prayers continue for Amy's DF, Lyresa's DF and DH, Marje's DM, Chris' DM, Molly's DM, and Elise's DM.

Cinco!! Was so happy to have you come visit me last night in the lagoon!! Now that you remember the way, try to find your way back more often, 'K?

I know how you feel tonight Tricia....Too many of the kitties that were here when China and I first got here are gone and it's just so sad tonight to lose our very special Tess

The kitties at the bridge will be eating some mighty fine pastries though!!

Sure hope Minka eats for you tonight...I don't know what else you could do to get her to eat! Hopefully if you end up back at the vet they'll have something to offer you!!!

OUCH!...that "filing the teeth" just sounds painful!! Hope Sasha can stay away from the dentist as long as possible

Enjoy your garlic bites! This is the one night a week that you should just spoil YOU!

Great to see that lagoon touch down last night! Paws crossed he'll get back there soon.

Neko has had her teeth filed back a couple of times. The acro tumor has grown some of the soft tissue in her mouth, causing a tooth or two to rub the gums causing a red mark or teeth grinding. It didn't seem to bother her and she was a lot happier once it was done.

Thanks for stopping by, Chris and Wendy.

Cinco doesn't look like he's headed for the lagoon tonight. At least he made it to blue. I'll be home all day tomorrow (except for a grocery run), so he can surf with my blessing all day. Wednesday is my appointment for the cortisone shot, but it's in the later afternoon, so he should be fine. See, I'm thinking positively that he's going to decide to do something with this dose!

Minka did not want to eat when we got home, and had not eaten the food we had left for her. I gave her some SEB, and half an hour later she ate a little bit of cat food. Sasha had eaten both the snack we left her and the food I gave her when we got home, but she wasn't averse to cleaning up Minka's left overs. It was a new food - Fussie Cat. The acupuncture vet swears by it, but I was majorly unsuccessful in my attempts to get the info on it (all they would give me was the guaranteed analysis, which is on the can, duh), so I wasn't planning to make it a regular food. About twenty minutes after she ate it, I found Sasha throwing up clear, thick liquid. I don't know if it had anything to do with the food, but I'm not going to give her any more of it. Both Minka and Harvey (who also had some), seem to be fine. I will offer Minka some more, since it was the only thing she's willingly eaten all day, in a little while when I do her squids. I can't give her meds for over an hour, since I gave her the SEB.

@Wendy&Neko, did they do a root canal on Neko when they filed her teeth? The dentist said they have to put in a filling of some sort, too.

I hope Cinco heads back to the lagoon for you today while you're home. I hope Sasha doesn't have to have anything done on her teeth any time soon. Sorry she threw up after eating the new food. I hope Minka's appy picks up. Sending prayers. :bighug:

I hope Minka's appy has picked up by now. I know how stressful and frustrating it is for you. Tons of vines coming along.

I hope Sasha's tummy has settled...I would be suspicious of the food, too. Hopefully her mouth situation will settle down so she doesn't need anything too drastic done.

At least Cinco is working the juice a little bit....but how 'bout a bit more, little man?

As far as I know, all they did was a little filing. He didn't mention a root canal. Maybe it depends how much they have to file off.
