Yesterday's condo and vetty visit

This has been a day I'd like to forget! Started out OK.....China's BG at only 142 and Cheaser (civvie #1) finally ate a little cat food tuna, but it's kind of gone downhill from there

China didn't eat much this morning, so I figured instead of giving her the Chlor Trimeton, I'd give her a little cypro (which as well all know also works as an appetite stimulant as well as being an antihistamine) and try to kill 2 birds with one stone....well, China usually responds to just a crumb of cypro by looking for the nearest loose water buffalo but when I finally fed her, she ate about 2-3 licks and that was that for "lunch". Tonight for "dinner" she ate about half an ounce (so she got more cypro)...stay tuned for the next thrilling installment

The next great adventure was China totally disappeared on me!! I have a small house and there aren't that many places to hide (and I know them all at this point) and not only could I not find her anywhere, she totally ignored my calling for her...this went on for over 2 hours and I was quickly becoming a basket case. There was nowhere else to look!! (or so I thought anyway)....all I could picture at that point was she'd found "someplace" to crawl away to and die. After looking everywhere, calling, crying and worrying, I did one more search around the house. This time I found her under the sink in the bathroom cabinets. Now I'd already looked there earlier and didn't see her...she had herself all the way in the back in the corner so until I REALLY looked closely, I couldn't see her and she never made a sound when I was looking before.

Cheaser is back to not eating tonight and the Chlor Trimeton I gave him last night caused him to sleep until this morning, so I'm not sure what to do with him, but it's looking more and more like I might be syringe feeding both of them if I can't get them to eat more soon...Oh fun!!

I DID get the first dose of Baytril down China...had to cut the half into quarters but got it down her....now to see how she tolerates it. Hoping it doesn't cause more problems than it fixes!!

Welcome to Chris's House of Chaos!!

I'm so sorry you've had a chaotic day. It's so worrisome when they disappear on us, especially if they don't feel good. I hope they all start feeling better soon and eating for you. Have you tried feeding baby food? Sending prayers.

I hate it when they vanish like that it turns me into a basket case too. The flying kangaroos are on their way with their pouches overflowing with appy vines. :bighug::bighug::bighug:

I'm thinking the 2nd dose of cypro may have helped!...China just came out and ate about 1 1/2 ounces of food!!...not enough considering how much she hasn't eaten all day, but better!

Then she sneezed and threw a gob of slobber/snot into the food ..gross, I know

Civvie still isn't interested

Wow - what a day. Been there done that with a civie that is a master of disguise and has hidden on us for an agonizingly long time!

Sending appy vines your way for all of the furkids in the house

Chris, is it possible China could be in pain? I ask because Michael's brother, Martin (GA) did the very same thing. Sending healing vines for China and for your other furbabies. Also sending hugs for you.:bighug::bighug:

Yo China,
you gots to eat your fuds so you can feel better fast.
Cuz Michael:cat:

Far out, way to give Mum a scare China!! You know, I never knew cats had snot. I mean it figures that they do, but I've never seen it. Same as I've never heard/smelt a cat pass gas either. Or maybe all my cats have been classy, who knows haha!

Snickers pulled that same stunt on hubby today. He was panicked and we still don't know where she was hiding. She just appeared later. I think she was in the linen closet, it was open when I got home.

@Tara & Ivana ...you know you didn't throw an "anti-jinx" after that "I never knew a cat had snot" remark....sure hope you didn't just jinx yourself!! ;)

Think I may be doing another dosecrease tomorrow

I was really hoping China would sound better today after her AB shot yesterday, but if anything, she sounds worse :(

So sorry to read that China is no better, and causing you bucket loads of stress into the equation. Vines for a quick recovery for all your ailing kitties and for you too Chris:bighug:

Okay, sounding worse is actually a good thing. It means things got loosened up. Really. She should sound better soon.

Sasha has a hiding spot somewhere in our upstairs that I cannot find. We have lived here for 17 years and not much has changed, furniture-wise, so you would think I would know every nook and cranny, but she can disappear and then reappear without my having a clue where she was. :confused:o_O VERY aggravating.

You definitely qualify for the House of Chaos designation. Welcome to the club! ;) Sending healing vines and appy vines and calming vines for the bean. Also :bighug::bighug::bighug:

Kitty colds. Gahhhhhhhhhh! And like ours, they often just have to run their course with whatever supportive therapy we can give them. Blowing snot is good! Icky, but good. The Baytril (nasty stuff; I had to pill in two pieces, too) should help with the infection.

Hiding. They're masters at it. Hey, I once lost a cat for almost two hours in a 400 square foot hotel room. No more putting the scare into your mama, China. Let her help you.

Lots of vines for appy, and a gone-quick cold for the whole crew. 'Til everyone's back to fine, we'll keep those vines going for the China ward of Chris' infirmary. Lots of vines to you, Chris, trying to nurse everyone back to health. An exhausting task.
