I started tge last pen in the box on 10/5. The other 4 got used up to the last drop. I don't think these numbers are due to a bad pen but thought maybe? I'd like to order another box from Marks but it could take a week to get here. Should I just spend more and buy a vial for $260?

He almost sounded a bit do jested this morning when purring but it could have been my imagination.
 
Could be a bad pen... he was seeing greens nearly everyday up until 3 days ago, and from what I've heard, bad insulin cause quick changes in numbers. So maybe. Then again, I always think I have a bad pen, switch it up, and then same old same old. :rolleyes: If it was me, I'd just go ahead and order from Marks just so it starts making its way over. If his numbers start getting real bad, you can always buy the vial for instant reprieve and save the pens for later? They do last quite a while unopened...

Sending lots of good number vines to Max. I hope he starts working this juice soon! :bighug:
 
Rule out the obvious -- is contraband involved? Is Max acting like his usual self or is there any change in behavior? (BG levels are very sensitive to illness and/or stress.) Is there any indication of a UTI, need for dental work, etc. If all of that is good, try new insulin.

He just was at the vet last week for labs and urinalysis and all was good. No contraband here as he is my only cat. He hasn't been acting like his normal self for some time. He does seem better today than yesterday. Maybe his pancreas took time off or he wasn't absorbing his insulin? Maybe he got less too many times? I guess I will see what he does today and tonight. He's eating ok and eliminating normally.

It seems like if it were the pen it wouldn't have worked so well nice October 5th although he was creeping back up.

When should I think about an increase? I only increased about 1/8 as that is all he has needed in the past.
 
It's been eight cycles on this dose, and six since he's seen green. I think I would give it one more cycle and increase in the morning unless there is real improvement tonight. Let's see what others think, since you know I'm not big on giving dose advice. ;)

Yeah for high green!!! Come on Max buddy!!

I agree with you Elise...seems like if the pen was bad, you would have seen signs of it before now....hopefully whatever has been going on the past few days is improving and he'll be back down where he belongs soon!
 
I just talked to my vet. He said to watch for signs of infection. He also said if I show up without an appointment he will never turn me away but I may have to wait. I had left a message last night and he just called back. I also said if Max had gotten worse I would have called again. Now I know I would just bring him in after making sure he was in the office.
 
Sure am happy to see that green! Max. Whatever is going on, get it going on away...far away. We want our MaxMan back to feeling good, settling in to good numbers, and giving his mamabean some time to exhale.

That is great to know about the vet. My vet is the same way. When Kisa was going through his final illness, she told me to just come in if I was worried and they'd see me. Makes you feel so good!

I wonder about your comment about him being a little congested this morning. Maybe his higher numbers were related to that?
