Good morning!
AMPS 304 shooting an increase to 2.5u

Boomer ate his usual last night leaving about half of his +6 and a bit of his +9.

Allen ate only ok last night, had a nice poop, but isn't feeling well this morning. He won't eat anything and I believe he may be nauseous (he's licking his lips). We've given him his fluids; hopefully that wasn't a mistake. We haven't given him his meds because I know they'll make him puke if he hasn't eaten. I don't think I have anything handy for nausea; I have cerenia but he's not actually puking. I have pepcid ac....would that do any good? If so, how much do I give?

I have a photo session scheduled for later this morning (+4). I hate leaving Allen when he's not feeling well but I can't postpone this session as it's already been postponed twice due to weather. On the upside, it's supposed to rain soon (I can't believe I just said that) which would allow me to cancel and stay home.

Poor Allen. I would try the cerenia. I don't think pepcid ac will help. It's mainly for acid stomach. Sending prayers.

Good luck with the dosecrease for Boomer.

My photo session has been postponed until tomorrow; rain is imminent. So I will be here to monitor Allen.
Usually when this happens it's because he hasn't pooped but he did leave a nice one in his lb last night.
I'll give him some time.

Judy , I agree with Lizzie on the SEB /MMR.... they both have worked wonders for humans and furkids alike. Elmo is routinely on 1/8 teaspoon SEB mixed with water 2x a day every day to keep his stomach at peace from effects of thyroid meds and aging kidneys. Not sure ab MMR ( Lizzie will know that) but in a pinch I’ve gotten SEB in capsules at Wal Mart when I can’t get to health food store . Sending prayers for sweet Allen and you :bighug:.......but keep in mind to not give any meds for 1-2 hours after SEB cos it possibly would block absorption of meds . ❤️

Certainly willing to try either the SEB or the MMR....not sure where to buy it in Canada...are they normally powders or are they in capsule form for humans (that I can open and mix with water)?

Glad you found the SEB and MMR. Just remember if giving any other meds the SEB and believe MMR need to be given 2 hours before or 2 hours after. Hope Allen feels better soon. Now Booms, stop this silliness please my little buddy.
Thanks Karen, he hasn't had his meds yet because I know from experience that he will puke them up if his tummy is empty. Looks like I'll be skipping this morning's meds.

Judy, I may have mentioned this before. If you're ever in a real bind with some frantic last minute trip to the airport (Toronto) and have nowhere else to turn to you can almost see our house from the 401. Cats, dogs, birds, all welcome here. I might show up at Timmy's in my pyjamas but we're always here.
Our #2 vet is just down the street, boards diabetic cats and knows what bouncing is. :bighug:

Wow thanks so much! :bighug::bighug::bighug::bighug:

Judy, as long as majority stayed down , it’s all good . It starts coating immediately . And sometimes if mine gag/balk at the thickness , I water it down to avoid gag reflex which can lead to pukage which can lead to :banghead: :banghead: :woot: On my part :arghh:
I did water it down a bit.
He hasn't improved. I'm quite concerned. Our vet closed about an hour ago; I want to send him a txt msg to see if he's still at the clinic. DH wants to wait. DH doesn't want to take him to the emergency clinic. This always happens on a weekend or holiday.

ETA: I have sent Dr Larry a txt msg.

Back from Dr Larry's.
Allen has a fever of 39.8c so received a shot of Convenia.
And Dr Larry wanted to send us home with a shot of Cerenia to be given later into the pocket of fluids resulting from the sub q fluids (apparently it's less painful that way) however I suggested that he give the Cerenia shot as well (why let Allen be nauseous for the rest of the day). And when I told Larry that Allen had been moaning, he also gave a shot of .....boorenophia....lol my phone autocorrected my note so if anyone knows the real name of this please let me know...it's for pain.

I asked Dr Larry if Allen appeared well hydrated and he indicated that he thought Allen was a bit dehydrated. I had thought so too, even though he has been getting 100ml fluid twice a day. Larry wanted us to increase it to 150 ml twice a day......I told him I was concerned about Allen's heart with that much fluid. What does everyone here think?

He was quite impressed with Allen's weight which was close to 12 lbs.

He believes that Allen may have high blood pressure so wants us to bring him in next week for testing and b/w.

ETA: as per Dr Larry gave Allen a mirtazapine.

Judy, so so glad u were able to get Allen in to Dr Larry today. :bighug: What did he say ab Allen’s heart and the increased fluids ? I personally think I’d hold off til Monday and get a definitive answer from Dr Larry on the heart issue . I know it’s not as effective but to supplement Elmo’s fluids I syringe water every hour or so on days he seems dehydrated between fluids days. It’s tough when you are walking a fine line between several health issues for sure . Sending hugs and prayers to you and your house :bighug:❤️

Well it took over 3 hours but Allen finally ate a bit. He came out into the kitchen all by himself and now he's laying in his bed in our living room. He's quite weak. Forgot to mention earlier, Dr Larry thinks Allen has balance issues. This could/would explain why he'll stop walking and sit in the middle of the floor....DH and I thought he was feeling weak/tired.

We posted at the same time. Glad he ate a bit. I hope fluids will help perk him up a bit too. :bighug:
