Yesterday

Well yesterday was a bit of crap shoot. Literally. He had a gorgeous poop around 4 pm. At around 7 pm he had another gorgeous poop followed by a lake of poop water. I knew something was up as he wanted up on my shoulder to keep his tummy warm. He hardly ate yesterday and his PM cycle was weird.

This morning he was all purry and ate quite a bit for breakfast. His AMPS was a pleasant surprise as well. Usually if there is a flare it runs in the yellows. So did he get into something/bad flare day/spooked by all the Halloween kids.....I just don't know!

In other news...I have some supplements that are pretty new and was wondering if anyone needed them.

I have Pure Encapulations unopened bottles - Complex B and Folate. I have some opened leftover methyl B12, folate and Complex B. I was trying to work with his anemia but it due to chronic illness and the supplments have not worked anyway. If someone wants them let me know. If no takers here I will post into the supply closet next week.

DH is in charge. Feeding some dry food. He is walking around fine. Drinking and deciding if he wants to eat out of his dish.

Asked DH to test again for me in a bit. I can only get 1 test a day usually from DH.

Can't ever pull this on a weekend can he?

I'm looking at other SS still trying to learn & understand why some things are done with the kitties. My Kitty Ravan has Diabetes since last Feb. He was diagnosed with Kidney disease & pancreatitis 2 months ago.I have 2 other cats All 16 yrs old.
They all get SEB (slippery Elm ) ,a few drops of CBD oil for pain & appetite ,fish oil for inflammation & their main diet has been raw meat.Since Ravan got diabetes I occasionally give him Gravy from Fancy Feast if he drops low.
You have been here since 2016 I'm trying to understand why you're still giving your cat Dry food? The yellow sticky note by Dr Pierson makes it clear why all dry food is bad for animals.
I've recently read that the wet food is digested differently than dry food which can cause problems with the Blood glucose. I've seen kitties go into remission when all dry food was stopped.

In the beginning my vet prescribed some meds for Ravan. He hated getting it. He won't eat his food if I put anything in it. He would get an upset stomach & vomit. I gradually started using natural supplements & giving it only every other day with a syringe So far he eats good, has not vomited
and poops are good.My other 2 cats have medical issues also & are doing good on the same supplements. It appears the majority of cats here only get Pharmaceuticals, and a lot of them always seem to be nauseated, vomiting & have constipation.
Does anyone ever think it's from all the different meds those little bodies are trying to cope with?

I'm still trying to make sure I do what's right
for my Kitties but it's difficult to understand sometimes.

I wish the best for your kitty Jones :)

This is just what I have seen in my situation with Jones. For any lurkers, this is JMHO when dealing with my cat. ECID is different and each medical condition, even called by the same name, is different.

SEB (slippery Elm )

I tried this supplement. In the end, in light of the severity of his condition, it was decided to drop it, in the long-term it did not correct the situation to a degree that benefited his long-term prognosis. In fact he got worse while using it.

a few drops of CBD oil for pain & appetite

I have tried this. Every time I gave a drop he hid. Just like some people...CBD oil is not made for everyone. For some it works and helps with their issues and for others it has adverse reactions. And yes, THC was not included in the oil I sourced. So as much as it could possibly help, Jones hiding for hours is not a good quality of life.

Jones refuses to eat raw food. I tried when first diagnosed - homemade, store bought and a variety of flavors. He will starve himself if that is all he had. And yes, cats will do that. So no matter how good the food is...if they will not eat it - it isn't good food.

you're still giving your cat Dry food?

This has not been an ongoing practice. This is new since Oct 11-18 as indicated in my signature. He went to totally wet when his FD dx in 12-16 from a combination diet. This decision has been made as Hail Mary to get Jones to digest more calories and gain weight. I have indicated in a prior daily post that I do not advocate this practice in general however, there is several caregivers that feed dry food here for their own reasons. He gets a combination of wet and dry each day as well as access to lots of water.

I've seen kitties go into remission when all dry food was stopped.

That is not my goal, so is not a consideration in my world.

nauseated, vomiting & have constipation.

Jones has not vomited or been nauseated while on the pharmaceuticals on a regular basis. The cerenia does the job it is supposed to do without any issue with pilling him. Jones does not have consistent constipation quite the opposite. Due to the pancreatitis and IBD - diarrhea is our main issue.

Does anyone ever think it's from all the different meds those little bodies are trying to cope with?

Sometimes yes. However, without them Jones would be GA now. As it is, those drugs gave me a chance to try different options and kept him in a pretty good state for over a year. With all things though - situations change and he is in a rough spot now. As you stated - I have been at this for two years almost (another month and a half to go) - so there isn't much I haven't tried or researched.

Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions,:) I realize what you said is true ,each cat is different & responds to drugs in different ways.

I'm all for whatever works to help our kitties. Just sometimes the information I read gets confusing. It's good to get other's opinions.

Wishing you continued success with Jones :bighug:

Aw. I love the thought that he wants a warm tum via you when it is playing up. I do that with a hot water bottle for me.

He's just so wonderful Trace. I always hope that his poops are the bestest and that he holds or gains some weight best he can.
