Things are getting back to normal after an action packed weekend. Rose went to the vet to receive an enema. That worked so well she came home to get a bath. I'm just glad she feels better (and smells better)! It would have been great to get a bath on a nice sunny summer day. With her dark fur, we could sit outside in the sun and she would be dry in no time. However, with Chicago turning into a frozen tundra we had to settle for a space heater in the bathroom.

I'm still working on new issues identified in her recent BW. Started to use Epakatin as a p-binder. :banghead::banghead::banghead: it has sugar in it. Her BG numbers spiked up to over 400.:arghh::(. I ordered some plain aluminum hydroxide powder today and will start that when I get it.

The next weapon in the arsenal for ongoing constipation is laculose, but it seems that also has some hidden lactose so another BG spike would be expected if I have to use it. :bookworm: I will try not to panic.

Previous.

You create a plan of attack for one issue, then you get hit with another issue, or three. :arghh: It's always something, isn't it? Hang in there! :bighug: Wasn't there something else the vet could have prescribed that didn't have sugar in it?

Sorry about the extra meds, it's hard to balance more than one condition.

I believe the fancy feast is quite high in phosphorus, have you considered some lower phosphorus foods? I don't know what's available in the us, but Dr Lisa searchable chart should be useful for that sort of search.

Of course if Rosie is a picky eater, it may not be easy/practical to change her fuds, and the binder should reduce the absorption of phosphorus.

Have you come across Tanya's CKD .??pñ??ñ?.?ññ

site http://felineckd.com, it has a wealth of information on kidney disease.

If you look at the "Food" tab in my spreadsheet I list all the food from Tanya's CKD site that is under 1% phosphorous and less than 6 carbs. Just started Maggie on Cats in the Kitchen Fowl Ball, and she really likes it.

Thank you. I think I have the binder covered, but for laculose, it may have to be compounded.

Yes. Sadly all to familiar with kidney disease. :(:(:(

To be honest, it wasn't on my radar for Rosie because all her numbers have been so good. I thought SDMA would be an early indicator, but there was something strange that happened suddenly. Acute on chronic is new for me, and of course FD is an added complexity. :bookworm:

When high phos showed up, I started experimenting with new foods, but the vet wanted her to put some weight on, so we are sticking with what works. Thankfully she has always been a good eater. :cat:

Thank you! Love your list. I have tried some of these (fowl ball). She loved the sauce.

I need her to gain a bit of weight, so I'm focused on adding a binder to something I know she will eat.
