11/24 Yoyo PMPS 324,+2 258,+4 170 ,+5 165, +8 188 AMPS 283,+2 355,+4 235,+6 209,+7 211

Good morning,
Last night his +2 and +4 seemed high but then the +8 reading of 229 seemed good/low to me so maybe during the night he got into the blues....maybe? It seems his onset is greater than +2 maybe because he eats 1 can between AMPS and +1? Your thoughts.....

maybe during the night he got into the blues....maybe?
It's possible. He's doing well overall, and remember these numbers are on the pet meter which runs higher. He's really looking great!

I think his onset may still be +2, it's just that you are having to give him so much food to help him gain weight that you are still seeing big food bumps. As he gains weight and needs less food, the +4 may be lower. Maybe @Veronica & Babu-chiri has more thoughts on this?

How is he feeling? Is this food schedule working for him?

The food schedule is great. Yo is very happy eating away, and that makes me happy that he wants to eat! When he eats, I know he is feeling good. When he won't eat, then I know he doesn't feel well. He is hard to feed. He isn't the type of cat that will gobble away. He has to be hungry and he has to like what I am feeding him. Real picky eater! Cannot change brand name foods, he knows the difference even if I don't; they look and smell exactly the same, but he knows that it's not fancy feast....lol.
Hope you and Bailey are having a good day!

That's awesome. Now we wait and see how he does on this dose. He's coming down.
Maybe a blue today Yoyo?

Bailey and I are doing pretty well today. Thanks :)
Sorry to make you always repeat things to me but.....can you please tell me again the name of the test strips that I believe your wrote Alphatrak2 supports. I think you wrote something like "pets..something? Cannot find the post, I looked back but I don't see it....sorry again to ask again!

No worries. Easier for me to retype it than for you to spend a lot of time searching.

I used Petsure strips: https://www.amazon.com/PetSure-Test-Strips-60ct/dp/B07FXSWSMV/?tag=felinediabetesfdmb-20

I've also tried Insulinx. Most people buy them from Ebay. They look exactly like the Alphatrak strips, and used to be made by the same company. Unfortunately, they are now made by a different company so who knows if they made any changes.

If you search the forum for "petsure" or "insulinx", you an find information that other members have posted about their experience trying out different strips. EBIF (Every Bean Is Different). You'll figure out what works for you and Yoyo.

Here is a link I found:

Good luck in your strip/meter search. :)

Hi Debra, some kitties will have NDW the 2nd or 3rd day after an increase lasting for about 24 hours. I suspect you will see Yoyo start to come down by tonight's cycle.

Thank you for that information. I was starting to think that maybe I gave him too much to eat from AMPS,+1 and +2. He ate like a little piggy today. He wanted the food so I didn't want to stop him from eating. I blame myself for everything so learning that some kitties have NDW makes me feel better. I do hope his numbers start to come down soon. Thanks again!

Trying to get weight on him is the most important thing right now. No worries! The insulin will get adjusted to his food during this process. :)

Debra I think he's going ok bit on the yellow but ok remember getting them down and regulated takes time, if you ask me I would say you let him eat as much and whenever he wants because he needs to gain some weight, food may influence a bit his numbers ? maybe, but you are giving low carb so it won't be that much, and as Bobbie mentioned the insulin will get adjusted , there are other things that would influence his numbers like he moving more or less on one given day, stress, being on good mood, being angry and a lot of other things so you will have some days when he's a bit higher or lower but that's not good or bad is just what it is even on healthy cats and people the glucose levels vary from one day to another or even from one hour to another

Hi Veronica, I hope all is well with you and Babu-chiri.
Yoyo is not active at all as he only has 3 legs. He lost his front leg to cancer last December. The poor boy has been through a lot. I believe activity lowers the blood glucose levels. I need to play with him more and get him to play with his toys so he moves after them. He sleeps a lot which is normal for him. He gets more active late at night around 11pm. I'll try to get him to move around a little more by chasing after his toys.
