11/29 Ming PMPS = 311, +2 = 344 / AMPS = 364, +2 = 356, +5 = 238

I thought I would add that my mom and I have noticed Ming eats less in the AM and more in PM. It's +5 and he hasn't finished his AM meal yet and ate a few bites of his AM snack. I asked my mom to record what she feeds him in the AM so we'll have a better idea but often she'll tell me he doesn't finish anything until 2 or 3 hours before PMPS.

At PM, he's asking for food every 2 hours until I'm asleep. I'll give him his PM meal (1 can) then 2 hours later, give him his snack (usually 1/2 can of FF or 1-2 oz of FD raw) since I know that's usually when he drops and he'll finish that in 2 hours. Then at +4 he's making a ruckus and wanting food so I give him the rest of the FF can and he'll go right to sleep for the rest of the night.

Overall, in a day, he'll eat about 12 oz of FF.

Or you know what... he's probably so hungry at night because he's dropping.

In these cases, do we still feed if they're asking for more food or just feed as normal?

My normal would be NOT giving that extra half can and not feeding so close together.

I tried to feed the same amount in the AM and the PM. You could try smaller more frequent meals if he's dropping.

How is Ming's weight? Going up/down/stable? 12 oz seems like a lot of food, Neko got 4 oz of raw a day and she was more or less stable around 14 lbs. Of course, raw is more nutrionally dense so you don't need to feed as much.

He has always eaten like a trucker. 3-4 cans of FF a day ever since I adopted him.

At night, he'll finish 1 can in an about an hour. But he doesn't seem to finish his food in the AM so perhaps smaller meals at night more frequently will be better for now.

The last time I weighed Ming at the vet was to do his specfPL and he was 16.47 lbs. That was a few weeks ago. When he was hospitalized, he stayed around 16 pounds even though he wasn't eating well.

And these are quite inaccurate but I weighed myself and then Ming and I on our bathroom scale and got these results:

17.8
14.8
13.2
eta: avg weight =15.3

Obviously this is not accurate. Any tips on how to weigh at home? Physically, he doesn't feel or look bigger but that's subjective.

At one point, I remember giving him 2 cans of FF in a meal and still feeding him snacks. His heaviest was 19 lbs pre-diabetes.

He doesn't look obese though. Chunky and large but not rotund and stretched out like the fat cats I see at the vet. He gets a 3 or 3.5/5 body score from the vet usually.

I bought a baby scale to weigh Neko properly. Found a place selling them on Craig's list.

Some cats are just bigger than others. Neko had Maine Coon heritage. We agreed between us that girl cats shouldn't go over 15 lbs. :p She tried hard to push that, but wasn't what I would call fat either. Seen plenty of those at the shelter. Lighter was easier on her arthritis. Her vet didn't like seeing her under 13 lbs.

PMPS = 311

I’ll change the title once I’m off mobile. The mobile site is a little weird about titles lol

He ate half of his dinner and then vomited it out. Gave cerenia and opened a new can but in a different flavour. He ate the new can no problem.
